First of all, I am amazed at a cast iron thread without rabid fingerpointing and angry replies. Bravo humans, bravo. I have a lodge as my daily driver. Earlier this summer, after reading some advice, I sanded all the carbon and junk off. Did a basic seasoning with olive oil in the over, twice. And it has been nonstick and easy to work with. I do agree it is weighty, my MIL has an older pan, idk what brand, but it is much lighter and thinner. If/when I go for new pan weight will be my main concern.

Thank you for this post. I appreciate the insights you provided. As a new immigrant to Lemmy, it make me happy that hate has no place here. But also I appreciate the measured response, rather than a knee jerk reaction. Minds only can be changed when they are challenged, and blanket blocking a while instance does seen very final.

I'm still new to Lemmy as well, but I think subscribed it what you want. I scrolled through everything a lot in the beginning, once you see a community you like, click on their name and select join.

You can also search for communities and join them as well.

This adds that community to your subscribed feed. Is that what you are looking for?

Being transparent, I saw this post in my ALL feed. I love this conversation as it gives me insights to a community I would never have known about. In my house Im the one with a sewing kit, I do all the minor repairs, rips, buttons, etc. I have done some basic crosstich pieces as a child. With all respect, I have never, ever considered that needles could lose functionality. With respect, why not just replace the needles? Why bother electroplating? What am I missing? I truly mean no offense, y'all have just blown my mind with you passion for needles.

Fun idea! Thanks for sharing! I can imagine using it near the end of a campaign, kinda of a montage of all the major places/plot points they went to during the campaign.

Have your played any other systems? Back in high school I played Rifts with that group, more recently we are taking a D&D break and playing a game using the Fate system. Not trying to derail anyone from D&D, just curious.
