I mean looking up video game character skirts is harmless anyway. I imagine most people do it at some point or another. It's the puritanical shame that's the problem

-I admire the ultra-rich; I’d like nothing more than to have a mansion & a supercar & a private jet & more money than I could spend in a thousand lifetimes.

-I hate taxes with every fiber of my being, and consider the IRS an instrument of government oppression.

The simple fact is that we have the ability and resources to take care of everyone, but we can't have it because the greedy ultra-rich fucks destroying democracy and the environment have people like you bamboozled into thinking you have more in common with them than with the left. The left would give you the things you admit are good and the ultra-rich would throw you in a wood chipper if it would make them a dime.

Yeah the reality is I would have just read (more) books from the library and played fewer video games

I’ve never been able to program in anything more complex than BASIC and command line batch files, but I’m able to get useful output from Claude.

Chatbots being deemed useful in tasks by people unqualified to make those judgments is a running problem.

Oh hell yeah. I think wanting you use refind might've been the last thing keeping me doing manual setup

guess we’ll have to see how this affects young / beginner programmers going forward

From what I've seen so far, it's not looking good...

This has been a feature in IDEs since like 2000.

Now, as for AI, it’s currently as good or “better” than about 40% of brand-new fresh from the BS program software engineers I have worked with. A year ago that number probably would have been 20%. So far it’s improving relatively quickly. The question is: will it plateau, or will it improve exponentially?

LOL sure

It is based on my experience, which I trust immeasurably more than rigged "studies" done by the big LLM companies with clear conflict of interest.

Some rust proponents having this attitude is probably part of the problem.
