Depends what it's for. I think a simple CLI text editor like this probably shouldn't have any smarts. Obviously an IDE like VSCode or IntelliJ should.

I think Fusion 360 defaults to direct modelling which may be easier for beginners. FreeCAD uses parametric modelling which is more powerful and easier to use, but probably a bit confusing if you aren't expecting it.

Also Fusion360 is commercial software that has had lots and lots of UX effort put into it. FreeCAD hasn't. Until FreeCAD 1.0 I would say it had pretty awful UX, even for someone already familiar with parametric CAD.

With FreeCAD 1.0 it's quite good and usable for people with experience in parametric CAD (mostly) but it definitely doesn't hold your hand and I wouldn't expect a beginner to be able to design a part easily first time.

Unfortunately there are techniques that work with black and white printers too. I don't know if any have actually been implemented though.

I still remember when the first (and maybe only?) time I've had a GPU driver crash in Windows. It just restarted the driver and had a little popup saying what had happened. So far ahead of Linux; I think that was like 10 years ago.

I'm not sure hardware-based full disk encryption counts as a "highly specialized requirement". It's enabled by default on Android, iOS, Mac and even Windows usually. It's a basic requirement for businesses.

Nice! Though a lot of the pages don't show any charts at all on mobile. E.g. the Pie Charts page doesn't seem to contain any pie charts? And the line charts page only shows a line chart in landscape which is weird.

It doesn't sound like it's difficult, just extra work that they don't want to do.

For example they might want to use native USB instead of libusb which is LGPL. I've done that in the past because libusb was lacking some features. It means you have to implement your USB code for each platform and doing that work for Linux probably isn't worth it, even if it isn't difficult.
