It's rare for me to be outraged by anything. I'm capable of not liking things while not being emotionally captured by them.

To be fair, you too can own a house if you're willing to settle for what the average house in Russia is like. In-fact you can often get the house for free and only have to pay for the plot.

Block and move on. It takes a second, is free and immediately solves the problem.

I ordered Steakhouse from Burger King the first time I went there and it was good so that's what I've gotten every time since. I haven't even tried any of the others.

They're called invasive species for a reason. The issue isn't that they're not from here but that they often overtake the living space of native species and the effect on the ecosystem is going to be net-negative in the long run. Lupines are a good example as they're quite the nuisance around here. There are meadows here that otherwise would be filled with hundreds of different flowering native plants but once lupine takes over the entire field is going to be just that. That's not multiculturalism.

You used the term predetermined there so I just want to note to others that no-free-will doesn't imply fatalism. It's not that whatever was going to happen is going to happen anyway whether you do anything about it or not. That would imply cause without an action and it's the exact opposite of what the idea of no-free-will in a deterministic universe means.

Determinism is about everything following from past events and the state of the universe at that specific moment and that the ability to have done otherwise is an illusion. So you didn't grab a chocolate bar at the checkout because it was predetermined at your time of birth that this would happen but you also didn't grab it because that's what you chose to do there and then and you could've also chosen not to grab it. No - you couldn't have. You didn't choose to be hungry, you didn't choose to notice the chocolate bar there, you didn't choose to like Snickers more than Twix and so on. Everything that ultimately led to you grabbing that specific chocolate bar was outside of your control and the fact that you did grab it means that if we rewind the universe back to that same moment, everything else being equal, you'll just grab it again, and again, and again. How could you not grab it? That's like saying 4 + 4 is 8 but it could also be 6. No it can't. It's always going to produce the same result no matter how many times you run the calculation.

We do things for two reasons: either you want to or you have to. There's obviously no freedom in having to do something but you're not free to choose your wants either.

I just did a similar thing. I got a new battery for my RC crawler but it only had one plug where as the original had two and the plug you charge it from is different than the one that plugs into the truck so I moved the plug from the old battery to the new one.

Later I then moved it into yet another battery because the charging plug here didn't have a balance lead so it's not safe to use on the long run.

It's just radical acceptance really. Having been dealt a bad hand doesn't mean you can't win - it's all about how you play that hand. I'm not going to start demanding a leg up or complaining that the system is rigged against me. Maybe it's not fair but it's life. Everyone has their nerfs and this is mine. Some things just are harder for me than for others but I try to find workarounds. I like who I am and I wouldn't want to be otherwise. Most of it does no real harm to anyone else. It just makes me a quirky person who sometimes acts a bit weird and doesn't follow social norms and that's okay. The stereotype of a "normal person" is not attractive to me anyway. Weird people are my favourites.

I've yet to discover an artist that consistently puts out good music so I'm hunting for individual good tracks from different artists instead. I find that YouTube is pretty good at recommending those. I search for a song I like and then go by the recommendations. I even canceled my Spotify subscribtion because I find that YouTube is better at recommending me music I actually like.

Also - and this is going to be really unpopular - I've gotten into AI generated music lately and I must say that when it comes to instrumental especially it's on average better than human artitsts. I've yet to find a true gem made by AI but I like to have a playlist of Progressive Jazz House or similar on the background and many of the playlists consisting of 100% AI generated tracks are consistently good where as with human made ones it tends to be a ton of absolute crap and few decent ones in between.
