I didn't say I think it's art. I don't know if it is, and I don't really care if it is or not. I also don't care if it's called art. I'm just saying the mental gymnastics of trying to convince someone that something like programming as art is cringe.
I certainly don't disagree with the points made in the video. It in fact points out something related to what I'm saying. He states he notices that people that claim something is not art are often gatekeeping something from becoming "elevated." I'm extending the converse argument: many people trying to claim something is art are trying to elevate it to a new status.
My problem with calling programming art is not that I don't think programming is art, but rather that I think that label is not useful in this context. Programming is something that is very much valued without that label. Thus adding the label is just an attempt to tack on unneeded elevation to the craft. In some ways the video supports my viewpoint. The debate over what is art is a bit tired. It's worth having, but personally I don't think it is needed in this case.
I think you have it backwards. Coding games is complicated, and that's why AI can't be used to code them effectively.
I don't think engineers need encouragement to be cynical. More often engineers need to lighten up.
Pritzker has been seen around Chicago throughout this whole debacle, specifically at protests. Seems like he's doing a little more than chilling at his office. Even when he said "you have to go through me" he was at a protest. I'm pretty anti-billionare, but at least this elected official is not cowering from the fascists.
If someone asks, I'll offer to buy them food or other supplies. My wife hands out handwarmers during the winter. We used to put together care packages for people, but lost the habit. I don't give out money because I don't want to enable addictions. When you offer something other than money, you are able to more easily separate people who want a fix over people who want to improve their situation. Your resources go farther when you help the latter.
edit: One thing that helps people out a lot is buying them public transit passes. It gives them mobility to get to shelter/services they wouldn't have access to otherwise.

Believe it or not, people might not always have abortion at the top of their list when they're moving. In fact I'm willing to bet cost of living is near the top of their list.
Can you give an example? I know that some people have a hard time with the strong smells, but I honestly have never heard it made fun of in any demeaning way. Maybe at worst a character has a bad time on a toilet due to the Indian food being so spicy, but I can't think of how it would be made fun of. Seems well loved here in the States in my experience.
Bright white gravy is probably garbage from a packet. A gravy made with quality, flavorful sausage will always add a bit of color.
