Thanks a lot. I will give it a try. By the way, are you also using the NUR? Do you maybe know if I can configure the nix.registry to allow using NUR packages using nix shell as well?

Couldn't you fork the project and add an option to display icons centered in regards to their center of mass?

Are there any tradeoffs I need to accept to use this?

While I do like custom text editors, I feel like bad debugging is a no go.

Are flatpaks really that bad? Why would they even require more resources?

Great! This is has been a long standing goal of mine! What did you write your taskbar in! And would you mind sharing it's code? I would be really thankful! Thanks!

Sounds like my story. I think I started with Ubuntu, but installed mints cinnamon Desktop environment later on.

I suppose this made you work in it later on as well?

In the top left there is a button to open a sliding menu which comes from the left of the screen. The first entry in this menu will say "Anonymous". Click it. Now you can log in to a server of your choosing.

Currently you will need to create an account on some instance beforehand. You cannot register from the app. You can only log in.

I switched around one and a half years ago. I must say, there are some hurdles to using NixOS. Mainly I dislike that it always takes around 20 times the effort to start and project. You make up for the initial time investment, because you end up with a far more stable setup, but still it does take some willpower to get things started.
