The laws are entirely stupid (as in written by people that have no clue).

The ones I see do not make using a VPN illegal, they make it illegal for certain websites to receive traffic from VPNs.

As a website, how am I supposed to know if I am receiving traffic from a VPN?

I have to maintain a database of restricted IP addresses? How do I keep that up-to-date? How do I catch small players? Self-hosted stuff?

And even if I do all that, how do I tell where the actual user is? Because that is exactly what VPNs were designed to hide from me. So, I cannot apply it to residents of a state—I have to refuse VPN connections from the entire world.

It is impossible and pointless. Anybody actually doing anything wrong will get around it easily. So all it accomplishes is reducing the security and increasing the hassle for everybody else.

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

KDE has vastly improved in my view and is a really great option these days. That said…

It is huge, monolithic, and difficult to modularize.

It is complex.

It occasionally has runaway resource use (eg. Indexing).

Though I see Systemd as an improvement, I still do not like it.

The Chimera Linux FAQ captures my thoughts quite well:

Not to correct you but, if people try to search based on your recommendation, it is “The Cathedral and the Bazaar”.

The world will only be a better place if these people self identify more quickly. I mean, it would be better if they do not exist but, since they do, I am very supportive of them expressing their opinions so that I do not have to waste time discovering them.

And a lot of other places

The same forces that created Trump are at work in Canada. And they are supported by US organizations. Have you noticed that suddenly even second tier US politicians have opinions about Trudeau, Carney, and Pollievre? It is the same as Musk in Germany. We are under attack.

We can tariff their imports if we want to do equal damage while we destroy each other.

A system wide tariff on Canada would be a self-own by Trump as he gets so much oil from Canada. It would make literally everything in the US more expensive.

Oil is a global commodity though. The market would have to adjust by forcing the US to import from elsewhere and us to sell to others. Our systems are very integrated though ( specialized refining / pipelines ) so it would be painful and expensive for both of us.

Let’s all use the WindowServer from SerenityOS!

What would have happened if he lost? Probably exactly that.

EndevourOS is excellent. It has been very stable for me. It is easy to install. Your problem will not be out of date packages for sure.

That said:

  • there is no graphical package management. You will need to use command line ( yay / pacman ) or TUI ( pacseek ) tools.
  • there are A LOT of package updates and you will want to stay current with them. I update my packages multiple times per week.

If either of those things bother you, they may be a problem.

Updating packages is reliable and painless but a chore you need to get in the habit of doing. I suspect you would get more problems if you let it go too long. On the upside, as it is a rolling release, you never have an “upgrade” to go through.
