Are the session cookies gone after reloading the page? If so, I’d guess that Librewolf is removing them. You might want to look for settings related to cookies and how long they persist
Basically one of the founders, Andy, posted on twitter some praise of Donald Trump and the US Republicans party. I didn’t love but it wasn’t so exactly horrible IMO. But as people replied, Andy started answering via Proton’s official twitter account. And these were much worse.
Unfortunately, the original posts are now deleted. Even the discussions that I participated in here on Lemmy are now deleted. So it’s definitely hard to share much info. Here’s a copy/pasta of something from my inbox:
The worst part was not Andy's initial posts it was his initial "let me correct the narrative" follow ups where he went on to bash Democrats and call the Republicans the party of the little guy, which is in many ways untruthful.
It's just a really bad look overall. This is basically how it started with us finding out Musk was such a mess too.
Here’s Proton’s official response on Reddit, from 6 months ago. If you care to dig up more info, this should be a good starting point. Maybe the original posts are available on archive.org?
For my purposes, the event prompted me to learn a tad more about Proton’s finances. I discovered that the company donates to political parties in the US and elsewhere. IMO, this kind of thing gives people a good reason to care about this kind of “internet drama” because Proton uses its revenue to influence politics. I don’t know any details of how they do so, but this event made me question if I should continue using their services.
I was having some issues today as well. My client (Voyager) was acting like I’m subscribed to zero communities. I had to log out and back in to fix things. Given the timing, I bet it’s related.
It’s clear that you don’t agree with my original opinions. And that’s ok. But it really doesn’t seem so simple and clear. Take a look at the ratio of up to down votes.
Oh really??? I wonder if there’s hope for chrome after all. Though I’m still sticking with Firefox 🙂
The subscription model makes plenty of sense. But there are loads of games that rely on server side components. That includes basically every multiplayer game that isn’t peer-to-peer. Any very many of them aren’t on a subscription.
I would love to require all that to be open source. But I still don’t see how to do it practically.
I recently discovered sidebery for tabs. I recommend taking a look. It’s fantastic
Well I'm also not entirely sure what you're looking for. But here's my guess 😅
None of this stuff should run under the account of a human user. Without docker/compose, I would suggest that you create one account for each service, deploy them to different directories with different permissions. With docker compose, just deploy them all together and run it all under a single service account. Probably name it "docker". When an admin needs to access, you sudo su - docker and then do stuff.
Well that's interesting! But I don't write see how that would work. Mind explaining a bit more? Perhaps s little demo with notes from two workspaces?
Thanks for the tip! See my reply to CLee
I've been trying to try out mlem but keep getting "the beta is full" messages from test light. Any idea if theres an invite link that still works?
Awesome idea! I wonder if there’s some reasonable mechanism for grouping discord messages into a single post? E.g. time bound: the previous message was greater than 5m ago so the next message is a new post and otherwise, it’s a reply to the latest post. Food for thought!
