Did she have some particular inspiration for her monk and robot tale ? Also concerning the "no money system" in this story, did she get her inspiration from real systems or economical theories ?

Hi there ! lucky you, soon released from the little controlling brain device ! For the otp and 2fa, I use ente auth on pc, and keepassXC for strong passwords. For now I have them both on pc and phone (ente auth have sync, but keepassXC is local so you can copy and paste the file from one device to another) while my smartphone is still alive. But i try to reduce progressively the apps on my phone so the transition to dumb phone and pc only is easier.

Hey everyone ! as some of you may know, i'm currently making some concept arts of a solarpunk city for an animation project, and there is one thing that i find particularly complicated, it's the urban design and street design ! It's one big puzzle and the things i find on the internet are not quite what i want and i might miss some keywords. (also a LOT of AI images so it doesn't help)
Does anyone have good resources on urban design planning, like cadastral maps in sustainable city studies ? I know there is a lot of take on that from wonderful artists, but I'm searching for a more "technical" point of view.
I've also heard that redesigning urban spaces is an effective way to help ensure women's safety. If anyone knows of maps designs made on the subject It would be greatly appreciated, I found serveral interesting articles on the subject but it is often staying kind of general in terms of solutions.
Cheers everyone !

I'm working on a personnal project called "Octa Solis" (just little stories taking place in a solarpunk city)! It turned out pretty good i think but in my next concepts i'd like them to be a lot more solarpunk in the designs Ultimately I'll try and animate it! 😁

If i may, Eu, no price in mind but i'd say not pricy for the show (like not the priciest or luxury oriented), and if possible to add a particularity, can carry animals (like a big dog ?) ?

Recently I've been remembering something from my childhood.. with my big brother we had a PS2, and after I accidentally deleted my brother's save on kh1 (at the final boss, he was soo mad and still reminds me sometimes), he would take the memory card with him when going to college, so I would play the beginning of kh2, over and over and over again, until he'd come back with it each holidays

Recently, I was chatting with a friend, and we were talking about ‘de-Googling’, federated networks and self-hosted services. As I was listing the benefits and my largely positive experience with them (the Fediverse for the most part), my friend pointed out that it isn’t an environmentally friendly solution, nor is it optimised for the long term. He told me that it requires more machines that consume more energy than a single large one, as these machines aren’t specialised for hosting services. What’s your view on the argument that ‘several small machines that consume more energy are less optimised and eco-friendly than a single large one built and designed for that purpose’? I realise that the large machine goes hand in hand with techno-fascists and that they are the real problem, but what if we were to look at this from a purely technical, forward-looking perspective on a clean future? How would you respond to this ?

I really liked the aesthetics of this game. It tackles many very topical social issues, it is inclusive, and it is a European (French) indie game. The only downside I had was that even with motion sickness disabled, driving the van made me feel sick.
Here's what it's about :
"In Caravan SandWitch, embark on a journey across a Sci-Fi Provence-like world, driven by a mystery through your missing sister that unfolds with each step you take.
Interact with the communities on Cigalo, help them with their tasks and meet new people along the way. Take your time to explore the world, whether in your van or on foot.

Life is simple: no combat, no death, no timer, just you, your van, and the world."

Ah nice, thanks for the link ! okay, I understand, thanks for the explanations, i'm still trying to understand the complexity of the fediverse, but it seems so logical now ! Also i have contacted @SolarMonkey@slrpnk.net to help mod the art and aesthetic communities, and we were wondering how adding someone as a mod worked.

Thanks for that excellent post, I have a questions, what's the "alternative f-hub link" to donate exclusively to slrpnk ? Also another one is : when you say technically help those community transition to their own instance, it means that they will no longer be part of slrpnk even though they are solarpunk oriented ? Would that make them less accessible ?

We were talking about the discord exodus affecting the matrix server as you can guess !

For averyone wondering why converser.eu is slow and/or you can't register, I had a conversation with the admin of matrix instance converser.eu, the convo is in french so i'm copying the translation here ! (I did remove my and someone else's answers so you only have their explanations)

"- FYI, I'm the admin of the converser.eu server. I know that right now, the server is a disaster. I'm doing my best. Synapse is a pain to administer and optimize. We have almost 7,000 accounts on the server and that number is still growing. We could greatly improve the situation by switching back to a server with SSD. I had to switch back to HDD because of disk space, which obviously doesn't help performance. But I'm stuck because of budget constraints. However, if you feel like it, you can help: https:// liberapay.com/converser.eu/ . "

"- It's been eight years since I launched the server, paying for successive servers to maintain the service. I've spent hours trying to understand performance issues when they arise, getting everything back up and running. In short, I'm doing my best."

"- Thank you for your support. I admit that I am very, very bad at communicating. And ultimately, when I launched the server eight years ago, I didn't think it would take on such proportions. As for closing registrations, it's complicated. Shutting the door when people need it or want to try it out could clearly discourage them from switching. And the converser.eu server is known for being open and hosted/managed in France. If I suddenly close registrations, I'll have to deal with all the emails asking me “why can't I register?”

Thanks for the post, it was much appreciated, i hope everyone is doing well ! About the no border/no country community rule, I guess some kind of compromise would be to create one community for all countries ? Like people would have a place to post in there language on the matter of solarpunk/nature/techno hippyness in theit country, and maybe sign the title with a country flag and/or the country code, so it's easily recognizable, and that way everyone can feel like its culture has a little place (as it is an english speaking instance) ? It's just an idea, also i've not been here for so long so if it already exists dont mind me ~
