To me, the problem seems to be bad regulators. They could have mandated that data centers have solar panels on their roof. They could have mandated a certain amount of greenery around the warehouse, so that the area was less impactful. It's been a known issue that unregulated Capitalism will cause mass destruction quite frequently for decades if not centuries. You can't expect every business to 'do the right thing' every time...that would be stupidly optimistic of regulators.

I watched the video, and it's pretty impressive so far, though for specific use cases i.e. not in all rivers at all spots, AT ALL. But for Fast moving spots in rivers that have the required depth (which is not a ton of depth), These seem to have a lot of potential for very low impact power harvesting with few drawbacks. They slow down the flow of water a bit but for areas that are somewhat steep that is probably more of a benefit than a drawback. They are clearly way way less impactful than for example building a dam. And so far they seem to be fairly thoughtfully designed to avoid contaminating the area or harming the existing fish and so forth.
Have an AI walk you thru setting up Home Assistant, which is often considered the best software for doing this (and it's probably free). What you want is totally doable and done by many people as a little tech hobby and helpful upgrade to the home stuff. It's not super hard, but having an AI be your mentor will make it much easier. Project cost might be a few hundred dollars, since you will want a cheap mini computer and a few electronic bits to allow communication between various devices. Of course, the individual devices e.g. nice phillips hue lights, are all additional costs.
You could also check out the HomeAssistant subreddit, but it's often a bit technical and not focused on someone starting out like you are.

Awesome groundbreaking Album! But is this really a fairly crappy 8-bit audio version of it? That would suck. This album deserves, if anything, a few good remasters over the decades. Making an 8-bit version of a masterpiece of music production for it's time seems like a Bad Idea to me. But to each their own.

Based on a comment in this thread, it seems like you want to learn some basic music theory, to get a feel for how music is put together. Based on that, I recommended electronic keyboards as the instrument. Keyboards are laid out in a fairly intuitive manner that can help you learn how scales and chords are built, and more advanced music theory depending on what you want to learn. Also, electronic keyboards can be quite cheap, and the sound making part (synthesizers) can live in a computer and be pretty affordable as well. But don't get a keyboard without full sized keys...that will limit your fun and have you learning bad muscle memory. You want to use a keyboard the size you would keep using if you eventually put thousands of hours into playing that instrument.
For shopping, you want a 'midi keyboard controller' with a usb connection. It should be velocity sensitive (all the but cheapest ones have this...hit a key faster and note is louder), and I'd recommend 61 keys or a bit more (but that is not critical at first, to just start learning theory and building muscle memory. But I don't recommend a mini-controller with only like 12 keys or so....that is not enough to learn what you want). Keep in mind that keyboard controllers often don't make sounds by themselves and instead are supposed to connect to a computer or some such, where the synths are. You can of course buy a keyboard that makes sounds and will function as a controller, but that costs more money, although it also might be much more helpful for you, especially if you don't have a computer.
And all electronic instruments usually require something else to make physical sound, which means you would be taking a step into having a tiny home music studio, buying speakers and an amp, or triggering a synth on your computer and using existing computer speakers. Once again, you can find something that does all of that, but it won't be GREAT at doing all of that while also being cheap. But that's a fine way to get started, and if get hooked, then you can start buying gear to turn it into a more serious hobby home studio setup.
I have the same hopes. There is no good reason to have to upload IDs for this sort of stuff. It's a matter of getting the regulators to craft good laws that implement these new approaches (easier said than done, often).
