That’s not normal behavior for family members

I wouldn’t say “perfectly” polite, but it’s definitely not offensive.

The response in the OP definitely doesn’t need further tonal clarification, though. It’s tough for anyone to classify that response as hostile.

The “slow mornings” one is my favorite.

I was a Reddit refugee.

A year or so into Lemmy and I don’t want to have a Reddit account anymore. I go back and view “All” every once in awhile, but Lemmy and Loops give me all I need.

No other social media or content aggregators besides those.

Experienced this when I went to Barcelona a few years back. Lovely city, but stepping out into the street felt like stepping into a cigar bar.

Yeah, I agree with you that the general population shouldn’t have to do their own taxes with the technology that basically everyone now has.

The only 2 reasons I can think of to keep it this way are 1) people doing their own taxes results in at least some of them reporting random self-income and results in a non-trivial amount of extra tax dollars, or 2) tax preparation companies have captured legislators’ votes and the tax prep companies would lose shitloads of money if tax prep was a government responsibility.

My interactions on Mastodon are far fewer than on Lemmy, though.

IMO, Lemmy is like a CoOp video game where you’re supposed to interact together, and Mastodon is like watching someone else play a solo video game.

Both can be good, but they serve different purposes to me.

The shower. Sometimes I just sit down in the tub and let life roll away in heated bliss

What are you implying here? People don’t use Lemmy because of this guy’s politics? Do we know the politics of other developers?

I used to think that adoption was basically “buying a kid” and was very cut-and-dry.

Now I know that adoption is really about merging another family into your life to do what’s best for the kiddo. It’s an ongoing journey that will change the lives of everyone involved.

Working with my SO to start budgeting each month. We now have a system in place that works for us and a habit of getting out in front of expenses.

Budgeting helped us see that increasing your income is far more powerful than reducing spending, so we’re focused on spending to gain skills and increase our top line right now.
