I don't think you have to, I believe Google play services has an SMS auto verification thingy that can basically do this for you in the background. Google play services needs SMS access for it but...well it has that on stock roms

I think the real problem here is politicians are some of the most technically illiterate people on the planet. They think they can legislate away problems that they can't...while ignoring the root cause of the issue (I'm mostly referring to the age gating of services, banning porn and VPNs isn't even trying to solve a problem, it's moronic)

I'm not sure I see the urgency? Plenty of organizations in the US love free software, OSU wouldn't be providing hosting if they didn't. Additionally most of Europe isn't exactly a bastion of privacy. There are certainly exceptions, notably Switzerland but the majority isn't that much better if you ask me. I'm also not entirely sure how privacy is all that relevant to where websites and source code is hosted, these projects aren't storing personal information. I think the important thing is that these projects are hosted and that funding is found. Where they're hosted is mostly irrelevant.

Eh? Idk if I agree. My original comment was entirely a joke based on the fact that the literal argument of=/dev/sda has no affect on my system but to address your actual point. I personally don't find nvme naming any more confusing than SCSI. /dev/nvme0n1 is only one char away from /dev/nvme1n1 just like sda vs sdb. Additionally if you understand how the kernel comes up with those names they make a lot of sense. The first number is the controller, the second is the namespace or drive attached to that controller, the 3rd if present is the partition on the given drive. It is entirely possible to have a controller with more than one namespace. That aside aside...I think there is a genuine benefit to be argued for having USB drives, which are SCSI and fall into sdX naming separate from system drives as I dd far more USB media than system media. Making it a lot harder to screw my system up when trying to poke a flash drive.
