The most depressing thing about this for me wasn't all the AI satire... although it was quite amusing. It's the fact that in 2026 the endpoint is still IPv4 😭

but really we need to stop these laws from happening in the first place. I will grant that the poster does not attribute foot nor bad to the situation.

What I think everyone is trying to tell you is that nobody is disagreeing with this sentiment. These laws are bad, I doubt the poster of the article would disagree. What is trying to be said here is if these laws go into affect (which is bad), and they exempt Linux (which seems good), they will quite possibly condemn Linux to an even smaller niche of tech nerds than it already belongs to and that is bad for Linux being a desktop platform, and it may be better for Linux to comply for its survival as a desktop platform. That is all that's being said here, nobody is arguing the merits of the laws.

XD, I do, I already build my own kernel and turn it off...just saying I don't like it

Yes but the ESP is not /boot, it can be, but rarely is in grub installs

nmcli device show eth0

Or replace eth0 with whatever interface it is. Will give you a list of all network parameters including the DNS servers. There ideally should only be one, your pihole

[-] Scoopta@programming.dev 3 points 6 months ago

Is your pihole server the only DNS server set? Either on your PC or router? Is network manager sometimes using a different nameserver?

I would think most distros that use glibc should work, steam and pretty much all games don't care about the init system. I personally use devuan and have had no issues.

Screw with AI scrapers? Maybe, screw with my ability to read the sentence without active effort? Definitely...and it's annoying as hell

The web is not open source by definition, I mean sure in theory it is but if you've ever tried to reverse engineer minified js I'm not sure it's all that much better than dalvik bytecode. It is easier to re than native code...but then wasm exists so again is the web that much better?

He says it was unexpected but it's been being talked about on the GitHub for quite some time now. It was really just a matter of when they decided to do it.

Not sure what proxmox has to do with this? All this is doing is allowing VMware workstation to run without out of tree modules, it means nothing for anyone else
