LMFAO, I do try to be friendly to noobs...but I am naturally a pedant and so when not dealing with noobs I let the pedant out a bit more. But I do agree with the sentiment that the power users are not welcoming.

Is it just me or does its top bar with the settings n stuff hide behind your notification drawer so you can't do anything other than click start scanning?

Is it rarer? I think a lot of modern languages go for the first option but pretty much all C style languages use the latter. It's probably a wash for which is more popular I'd think.

Ok but, in the second example you typically just put final or const in front of the type to denote immutability. I still don't see the advantage to the first declaration.

I must just be really lucky then? I've been running Linux exclusively for about a decade, including on my laptops and while my most recent laptop is from System76 every laptop I had before this one and all the HW in my desktop was purchased without considering Linux compatibility because I literally haven't had hardware compatibility issues in years. I thought those issues were from Linux of the past and my own experience agrees with that. Weird.

What has the US government actively done to harm FOSS? Last I knew they contributed to and maintained several high profile FOSS projects. The NSA maintains Ghidra and other US agencies fund and contribute to tor.

Also while I do agree that the NSA is more likely to approach US based organizations and US citizens to include back doors willingly it doesn't stop them from attempting to covertly get back doors in place. Additionally let's not pretend like the US 3 letter agencies don't have agreements in place with their European counter parts to do cross border shenanigans. It's known that they do.

I guess I just feel like if you're manually configuring BTRFS you'll either use it like a regular FS, or you'll set it up to make use of the features in which case you'll probably setup both automatic snapshots and cleanup. Possibly with auto scrubbing too. I don't really see a situation where someone who manually opts to use it sets up snapshotting manually and then doesn't setup any form of cleanup.

Huh, that is really bizarre then, reminds me of the times where I'll be chatting in discord about something and then get something related recommended in YT right after even though I can't fathom how that would happen as the 2 aren't connected in any way.

I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand this is incredibly screwed up, on the other hand this kind of surveillance isn't new in the corporate world and there really shouldn't be an expectation of privacy on devices issued by a school, company, or anyone other than yourself. I know I would never trust a device that isn't mine. That doesn't remotely make it ok to do, I'm just not sure anyone will do anything about this.

This will be really interesting, especially given the Firefox fiasco and the fact that chrome is open source. Assuming it stays open source will Google just fork it and make their own chromium browser? Guess we'll see

Ah, I've only had one guild require it and I told them to fly a kite XD...I thought this was becoming a general thing and I was going to be really annoyed
