they're the type that uses reddit the same way they'd use instagram or 9gag so it doesnt have any particularly unique value to them

Even if we acknowledge capitalism is responsible for the rising tide of the last 100+ years (and even that is highly situational), it's obviously not working anymore and without a way to externalize the costs of capitalism to people and places that "dont matter" those tools meant to externalize damage are now pointed inwards and the rewards fail to trickle down. now we're all losing more than we put in, with that surplus value going only to the owners.

That's a naive interpretation of the lore , then allah is also the same god of the mormons who is one of many in their pantheon. just because an atheist can step back and analyze the lore and draw relationships between fictional characters doesnt mean you can do the same through a lens of absolute truth in a haunted universe with real ghosts

Sure but what does it matter that Saint Nicholas existed in turkey if the santa that children "worship" lives at the north poles with elves and magic reindeer? that a fictional story might draw inspiration from a historical fact but it doesnt mean anything more than leonardo divinci being in assassins creed.
historical jesus didnt exist because whatever person with a similar name that you pluck from history will not have been the son of god and all the supernatural implications that brings. santa didn't exist and neither did jesus.
