Are you using the very latest version? YouTube changed their site again a few days ago and it broke yt-dlps ability to find all thr formats. Update yt-dlp and it should be back to normal. yt-dlp will prefer the opus when it is available by default.
Opus is much better than (YouTube's) m4a. m4a is better than mp3 (which is an obsolete 30 year old format). YouTube doesn't serve mp3 (so creating one means re-encoding), and re-encoding lossy formats always loses quality.
Any family members and all pets will also be removed from the premises, and they aren't allowed to have the paperclip.

The code probably used an if statement somewhere to throw an exception if some condition is incorrect, then called strerror(), which gets the status of the last syscall. But the error was probably a logical one in the application and had nothing to do with the last syscall. Or perhaps success of a syscall is itself an error condition. For example if a file already existing should be detected and cause a failure, calling stat() successfully would be an error

When it was brand new there were some edge case bugs that broke on certain workflows and hardware, but that's pretty much entirely fixed now and I'm guessing for a long time now it's been more universally stable than pulseaudio was.

People are able to on some songs because mp3 is poorly optimized for certain sounds, especially cymbals. However, opus can achieve better quality than that at 128k with fewer outliers than mp3 at 320k, which saves a lot of space.
