There are many different defenitions of it, the one i go with is that in an socialist society the "means of production" (factorys and such) are run by the workers there in an democratic way. In communism the society woulf be run without states and with no money as well as there bring no classes (like workers, labdlords, politicans or bosses)
The various states that claim and claimed to be socialist or communists aren't fulfilling these conditions as to why many people say that these aren't examples of socialism/communism

if all parties involved are open to haggle then they should be free to do so
I don't know what you imagine under protecting the right to haggle and have it be enforced by authority.
If haggling is not already restricted by authoritys everyone could haggle with others who are open to it already, which is why i don't think that it is of any use to have it protected by law.
I don't like the practise myself because it gives many neurodivergent as well as people who are on lower ends of the social hirachie disadvantages

yes, i am someone with ADHD who also has full aphantasia, i am not able to imaging any senses. I do have an silent inner monologue, i know some people don't have one.
