I say the day Mozilla bends the knee to advertisers and do what Chrome did by phasing out ad-blockers with Firefox. That'll be the day when I look around my apartment and realize "man, I need to start getting into some hobbies now."

Kids and Teens online is such a wormy issue. They'll be everywhere, lying about their ages, lying about who they really are .etc They're just problematic little liars at every turn, fucking things up for the rest of us, because their parents are stupid and garbage at handling them.

We wouldn't have an issue with social media, with IDs, with chat room or even Discord servers if it weren't for them. Fuck them, they don't belong online. The internet should be for 18+ users. It's clearly evident that teenagers and children in general, cannot handle anything online. And the only reason they sortof can now, is because of the lengths the laws and egregious moderation that consists of the sanitization of online content have gone to 'protect' them.

That when you block someone, their comment vanishes from your sight. It is like they don't even exist. That's how blocking should be done. It isn't like where on Reddit, you still have the option to click an icon next to their name and see what they've said that got you to block them. Why the hell is that a thing? Why should we care? If we want them blocked, we don't want to see them ever again, including the ability to re-read what they've said.

As much as people loathe the idea that Disney has long owned Star Wars, I see a small sense of reason about it. The only good thing about the acquisition is because it helped streamline the lore. I don't agree with all of the changes, like lightsabers being mood-dependent and cool characters like Exar Kun being shunned from being acknowledged in canon.

However, when you look at the EU as a whole, things got very ridiculous. Like Luke Skywalker essentially become a Force God, you've got Emperor Palpatine being close to being equal to that level on the Sith side with summoning force storms. Darth Talon was created mostly for sex appeal, given by the way she's drawn and how little she does anything except be Darth Krayt's little sidekick.

Characters surviving fatal wounds, characters being measured for 1v1 debates as to who is stronger than whom, characters being proclaimed as the 'only this' and the 'only that'. I mean, it got waaaay out of hand. It was like Star Wars got into Shonen Anime territory without it being Shonen Anime.

So, while I don't agree with nearly every change Disney has made to Star Wars lore and stuff since acquiring it. But I also can see why, which is to help narrow and straighten things down while picking pieces of the EU that would work.

And here we are where it has come full circle to where, we're seeing Master Chief on a freaking Playstation 5 cover case.

"YouTube said the hike will “allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube.”

Bullshit, bullshit and more bullshit. They say that every single time they raise the prices. It's the same dogshit excuse.

I think PeerTube should be for hobby purposes. I mean, here's where I am coming from. I am from a period of the internet, where you were not meant to be e-famous. I still at times, believe this. Look at what happened when the idea of the tiniest bit of fame and success people allow to get to their heads when they realize that they can just make videos and profit off of them.

My high school. I just didn't think I'd come out with a diploma and that my entire school 'career' had been nothing filled but setbacks and directionless days. Yet I somehow came through.

I didn't think I'd make it past my 20s, because at the time, I was a very overweight teen that carried it over into their 20s. I've heard stories of people who've been overweight that'd never see lengthy lives because the burden of weight would be too much.

I'm currently going through the junior year of my high school, that was 20 years ago exactly. It has been 22 years since my favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox, had finally broken their Curse of the Bambino in 2004. The Harry Potter main book series ended 19 years ago while the film series ended 15 years ago.

I actually maybe wouldn't have minded two movies. Then again, I say it should've been one 3-hour long film and given the extended treatment the LOTR films got. It'd be one long, but eventful movie.

The question was meant to be broad.

I'm completely convinced that online moderators of all kinds, are by default, maliciously useless. I wouldn't be shocked if the moderators on Lemmy and anywhere else, were formerly from or are from Reddit themselves based on how they behave to people. I've read modlogs where moderators actively insult people in the comments for why they've banned them.

Who are these pricks trying to impress? It radiates small-dick energy to unfathomable levels.

Man, humans have fundamentally and irreversibly fucked up this planet. We burn coal, so we have that problem you mentioned. I learned recently how chemical companies have done decades of a poor job just dumping chemical waste wherever they want or developing things that does more harm than good at the planet's expense.

Enjoy it while it's here I guess.

I refuse to be homeless. I've always been telling myself that the day I become homeless and so many bills pile up, is the day I truly die. I'm pretty resourceful, but there's not an awful lot that I can think of as there to do if I become homeless, other than become a petty criminal, but then I'd only be wasting time in jail and being treated like a nobody in the justice system.

Metaphorically speaking, but putting the boot down on the neck that is the form of my individuality. They both did a terrible job in preparing me for life. Their idea of readying you for life is going on tireless banters about themselves and maybe a couple lessons dropped in between. There's just no recovery when parents just do not prepare for you for life, leaving you into a life full of struggle and improvision.

They jammed in a freaking elf and dwarf love interest angle somewhere in the movies.

In the entire Middle-Earth Legendarium, Elves and Dwarves were bitter rivals to eachother to the point where the idea of A elf and A dwarf would never work together in a conceivable fashion that constitutes a relationship to that extent. Legolas and Gimli I was okay with because they developed as functioning partners for the sake of the Fellowship when the call was heeded.

But what happened in the Hobbit, was once again a shining example as to how stupidly obsessed Hollywood is, with cramming romance into everything.

I still can't stop but think how stretched out the Hobbit films were, for an otherwise short book. That's a sin that stains forever with me. The Lord of the Rings films, do have their own flaws, but they're fairly contained and can be debated as to whether they were good or not. I have so much trouble excusing anything with the Hobbit though.

And I hope we never, ever see anyone tackle The Silmarillion. Simply because, there will be so much improvised fluff in that would-be film, that it'd make the Hobbit films blush.

Mine is evaluated based on how many of them were there for me when I was at my lowest. It'd be unfair for me to evaluate them based on communication, because then that'd mean that everyone would be gone, so that'd be unfair. I also don't think evaluating people based on what they gift you or do for you is adequate either. So, yeah, I think the clear line basis of me removing a friend is about sheer balance.

I don't like friendships that are just unrealistic. Where they want only and nothing but the best from you and for you. Friendships are about enduring someone's worst and figuring it through too. If you just push someone away all of the time and leave them in dormancy where their mind tends to wander into places it shouldn't. That's one of the worst things a friend can do and it can also include up to things like not talking to them just for a check up every now and then.

So again, if more friends have let me down or dropping the ball, then that's probably my reason.

Yesterday, I got off a 3-day ban where I said in reply to a comment about how I said "it should have taken him too" in regards to how it looked like RFK Jr had a stroke in an image of an article. So that was 3 days ban, uncontested. Then, just under an hour ago, I got a 7-day ban for an inoffensive comment similar in vein.

So I guess it's a no-no to talk of "leaders" of departments who condemn people's lives to suffering by ill advice and beliefs. Talk about bending that knee, Reddit. The place has been utter shit. I'm probably going to end up getting a permanent ban when I return when I shit on another right-wing politician.

Yeah, yeah, neg me all you want. I don't care of your feelings. I've learned that it's okay to let politicians dick the lives of millions around up to and including unaccounted deaths. But a little wishful stroke to one politician is "wrong".
