I’ve had it and I liked it. I prefer little pickles like cornichons though and you can’t have both.

I’ll go first. Franz Marc. I particularly like “Blaues Pferd I”. I love me some German expressionism.

I think on the original offending post, OP made some somewhat inflammatory comments about ADHD and Autism further down. I imagine the downvoter felt personally hurt by these comments, hence the temporary spree, driven mostly by emotion. I don’t agree with the vote manipulation but not knowing their full story I would caution against people coming across this and retaliating against this person. It seems like it was just a short response and hopefully they have had a chance to cool off now.

I work hourly and use my watch with IFTTT to log my hours into a Google sheets spreadsheet with a single button push. I need this type of integration but am struggling to find a non Google alternative that will work with IFTTT. Any recommendations?

Maybe this is already a well known fact to most of you but I only just discovered it and it’s made me a bit sad! The little jar symbol with a number in it on skincare and make up products tells you how many months it is good for after you open it. Often it’s a really short amount of time. I guess that teaches me to stop buying pricey skincare that I justify by not using as often so it lasts longer!

I agree. This is exactly why I don’t wear headphones a lot of the time. So I can listen to those exact noises.

I am not knowledgeable when it comes to photography but I often find myself looking up at the beautiful night sky while out at sea and away from light pollution, and would really like to capture it somehow. Video or photo, either would be swell. The little I know tells me this really isn’t going to be possible on a boat, what with all the rocking. I was just wondering if anybody has any ideas/ camera recommendations or shall I just keep it as a beautiful memory?

Face Wipes (self.skincareaddiction)

Crewing on somebody else’s boat soon for week and while i usually just use face wash on my boat, this one is smaller and has more people on it so I am unsure of the water situation. I want to pack face wipes instead for cleansing but I am prone to break outs and also have sensitive skin. Any face wipe recommendations out there?

Was this a debate about tennis balls? My spouse and I have had this exact disagreement!

I bought some Edwin 503s in Japan a couple of years ago and they haven’t faded much. I think I’ve soaked them 4 or 5 times. I’m not an every day jeans wearer so that may be the reason they are taking longer. Anyway I live on a sailboat and water is scarce. I talked to an old salt one who said he drags his jeans behind the boat when they are in crystal clear waters to clean them. This sounds like it could create some cool fades but also like it could potentially destroy my jeans. Anybody got any experience with this?

Trying to buy this boat has been a mission! The weather system that pushed back our haul out pushed it back by over a month. We finally got it done though and got the survey report last week. We have accepted the boat and probably close this week, all going well. Can’t wait to start moving on board!

So far I tried making a flour based coating and frying it and I’ve tried frying it for 5 mins before putting it in the oven. Neither option was successful.

We are buying the boat along the east coast of America so we are going to hopefully start by exploring the north of the east coast/Canada and then head down to the Caribbean for Christmas. After that, who knows. Fun fact: she was a marker boat for the Americas cup in NZ so she can certainly get us back home if we muster up the confidence!

Thanks! Yes a sailboat. We’ve been getting ready for this for quite a while. Took a bunch of courses and bought a starter boat that we would go away for a few months at a time in to see if it was really something we could do and to make sure the dog could handle it. We did that for a few years and learnt what we wanted from a full time boat. I hope the inspection goes well. Can’t wait to finally start the big adventure! It will probably be quite a while until we feel experienced enough to cross oceans but I’m just excited to spend more time on the water!

Stuck in interviews all week. Trying to find somebody to help with my project. Is a full time job right now. In other news, we are buying a boat and planning on living on it. All the inspections have been organised this week so we are one step closer and I’m really excited!

I was looking at my little speaker the other day and thinking to myself about how well it has done. My husband bought it for me about 10 years ago when we were just dating and had moved halfway across the world together with little money. It seemed like a big splurge at the time and we were using it to watch tv shows on our laptop without relying on the tinny laptop speakers (we didn’t have a tv). Fast forward to now and that speaker has traveled all over the place, been to the beach, been camping, been on sailing trips etc. and it still holds a charge really well and has pretty decent audio quality for its size. It even still looks good. I think ten years is pretty good for a little Bluetooth speaker, personally (maybe that's a normal amount of time?). Hopefully I can get many more years out of it. Anyway it feels strange to bring up older items and recommend them as BIFL because you never know if manufacturers have kept up their quality over the years. If these speakers are still being made with the same quality i definitely recommend them.

Took my parents out into the ocean on our sailboat today and had perfect sailing weather all day. It was a great day had by all!
