Random thought, but I think this is the plot of one of the Jimmy Timmy Power Hours.

Plant-based oils and crude oil from the ground are completely different substances. The former is mainly composed of fatty acids, whereas the latter is mostly a mix of different hydrocarbons.

I'd suggest reading up on John Locke's "continuity of consciousness" theory of self. It's essentially what you're describing here: he holds that the "self" over time is a construct of the continuity of one's consciousness through memory. This has some interesting implications: for instance, if someone becomes blackout drunk and has no recollection of the experience, can it be said that that experience belongs to the same person after the fact? Also, as another commenter pointed out this has significant implications in the case of memory loss, especially for someone suffering from dementia.

The age of majority is a pretty arbitrary line that we draw; I don't see how this would be fundamentally different. We already "encroach" on interpersonal relationships by not allowing adults to date minors (which again is defined completely arbitrarily).

Microsoft has discussed the possibility of creating user mode APIs for the monitoring that security programs like CrowdStrike could utilize instead of installing a kernel mode driver, but they haven't said anything about locking down kernel mode drivers and I personally doubt they ever would.

Sorry, I phrased my comment poorly. What I meant was that the article doesn't describe what specifically led to those charges, apart from a racist group chat of some kind.

The US wields immense geopolitical power; of course they get a say. That's not to say that it could prevent an annexation if the CCP wanted it badly enough, but Washington has no shortage of levers to pull to make it as unattractive an option as possible.

Anti-China/pro-Taiwan sentiment isn't exactly unique to the US. I think you're alluding to an incendiary tone with respect to how you say Americans express their views, but that doesn't seem to quite fit so I'm a little lost there.

This is nowhere near as deep as you think it is.

I think this is overselling it a little. I still run into issues with Proton from time to time that require sigkilling it and its children, and some games (especially EA titles) are finnicky and can take a few tries to launch properly.

As for VR, SteamVR on Linux outright sucks. It virtually never works the first time I launch it and requires some combination of reconnecting hardware and restarting software and the computer, and it's plagued with bugs (most recently the UI rendering upside down in the new beta).

Don't get me wrong, Linux has been my primary platform for some 5 years and my only one for the last few and I'd never dream of going back to Windows, and gaming on Linux has progressed unbelievably in the time I've been daily-driving it. But it still isn't totally painless and there's definitely more room for improvement in the coming years.

What do you have to gain from being this rude to strangers and using slurs against them? This behavior is legitimately antisocial, and unless you're literally 13 years old it's inexcusable.
