I guarantee you the only thing stopping upper management of hospitals is legal threat. At base, traditionally, those guys care about profit, not getting sued, and avoiding unionization. Probably in that order. Every hospital has lawyers, they likely stopped this.

For MAGA admin, this is likely twofold. Looking for immigrants and tracking women seeking any reproductive or reproductive emergency care.

Remember, part of P25 is to dismantle/rewrite HIPAA for all things reproductive, for women.

As is, there are items that can be reported while remaining in compliance with HIPAA. Public health risks, to the CDC, like syphilis (it’s made an incredible comeback of late), salmonella, rabies, or measles. Dog bites and gun shots are another.

Unless the judge is really corrupt, when this goes to court, it will likely be limited to things like lawn mower and coffee maker injuries, at worst. I could see them wheedling in IUDs as a consumer product or FDA issue.

Shit, now that I consider further, this could be their planned pivot to that bit of P25. The rest just being another test to see what they can get away with.

And who doesn’t want some good stories and distraction now, in what has to be the second Great Depression.

There’s more to that universe’s structure than exploration vessels.
