Are you using WinBoat for the compatibility stuff? If not - might be worth looking into. (It's still a Windows VM but with a different abstraction layer).
Useless fear mongering over the behavior of statistical models. No actual persistent memory unless we add it (and then then it isn't "memory"). They're driven only by their prompts, context, and training data.
I switched a while back, but grew frustrated with most of the solutions. Apparently while my music is on Spotify, some of it isn't in the MusicBrainz database, so automation and tagging/sorting tools just crapped out. The solution of submitting the data just wasn't work I was willing to put in (the guide on making a submission alone was too much).
Ultimately I did most everything manually and got a workable solution, but without added variety I lost touch with music and stopped listening all together over time.
New ish. My current Thinkpad is a P14s Gen 1 with a Ryzen 4750U 16GB of RAM, and it came with a 512GB SSD. I paid just under $300 for it on eBay and well worth the cost. I wouldn't get anything that is still a TXXX variant anymore though (e g. T490), they simplified the product line. So T490 was replaced by the E14 Gen 1, and the P14s Gen 1 is an AMD variant.
Highly recommend. One thing worth noting though is to double check the fingerprint reader if you desire that, the E14 Gen 1 has a reader not compatible with Linux in a functional way. The P14s Gen 1 however does.
The complexities involved, even with solutions, are just too much for current humans. Genetically engineering ourselves could work, though I'm more in favor of just digitizing ourselves ha.
I work two jobs and have no days off but Friday is the start of not having to drive the next morning so yeah, in a way.
I found that same nugget just under a decade ago. Dropped off the dating scene to work on myself. It really made me reflect. I'm still working on myself and honestly I suspect I will be for a while to come.
I have a Pixel 7 Pro, in the U S. (and some other countries) call recording is disabled by default and sometimes it's possible to get your phone to think it's from a region where it isn't, and then enable it, but I haven't really looked into it recently. It's also really fucked because my state in the U S. allows call recording, so I really feel Google is being lazy by restricting it countrywide.
I figured, but wanted to clarify in case others saw it that way 😅.
I assume the thing a degree usually covers that a self taught lacks is accepted best practices, teamwork, and alot of principles that are better learned before diving into it. So a lot of bad habits to unlearn.
IMO, in today's information world a degree isn't necessary for learning, only as proof of learning (which is still very relevant). But a formal education also puts the tools you need to practice in front of you. Software development is an easy field to learn and prove your skills in. Chip design you'd definitely be better off getting a formal education, though you still see people making microcontrollers in games like Minecraft without formal education.
I have 6 siblings, we're all just about evenly spaced at about a year and a half. I get along with some better than others but none are excluded.
It can also aid after a disaster such as a hurricane when cell networks go down, although technology is coming a long way to reduce that disruption.

Did gamescope not do the trick for you? Having used both Gnome and KDE on Wayland anytime I've encountered that issue the solution was simply to use gamescope.
