I believe this discussion is important, just the other day I was sad about people colluding inference and training like if both were having the same carbon footprint. I am not defending Sam Altman or anyone else. But we need to look at the facts for what they're. Running a quantized local model, accepting latency and all, can make your use of LLMs as low as playing video games. I already said that in the past, and I only got downvoted. Maybe because everyone is hurt bout this technology, which is having detrimental consequences. I am not saying there aren't any problems... but I am accepting the world for what it is, as GPT4 has said ~3 years ago: confetti has left the cannon.

So, we need to deal with this reality. The training done on data like open source code, or even copyrighted materials, will always be a debt.

Just like colonialism. And yet, we are not hating each other for "simple" stuff like eating chocolate or drinking coffee which is most often than not unethically sourced. OR the minerals that make our electronic devices..

Again, it's not that I am vouching to ignore the issues. But I rather have us take the conversation as a debate or dilemma. Not just start attacking one another.

This all seems like that caricature of a vegan that hates the vegetarians for eating some cheese.

Look at the common ground. Here, on lemmy, more often than anywhere else, we have a big chunk of values and ethics in common.

Yet, they ride on the same streets (for the most part). Fuck cars! Furthermore, oftentimes they only carry 1 person and create all the congestions..

Not OP, but I'll chime in my reason: History. Messages older than.. 30-day are only accessible for a fee. Even when you star/ pin those messages. It's so hateful.

The Age of Forks

Maybe won't be all entirely too bad or doom... I would like to see a silver lining, some FLOSS developers are smarter than trolls.

Sounds like that toxic relationship continued through divorce with her making everyone "take sides" and stealing all support. Can't give you any advice, you could reach out to some of your closest friends... Or, just start fresh with new people.. like, moving to a new city or neighborhood.

Good luck! Stay safe and strong :)

This all comes down to my fault

No, it isn't... Partial responsability, yes. But. Seems to me you're handling it as best as you can, which may not be enough to some, but still that's on them. Also, you feel remorse, that's got to count. Anyway, above all, the gossip is way beyond you..

Perhaps not... I always considered he could be Putin's puppet. I know he 'simply' admires another dictator but still, I always entertained the hypothesis... Just for being cynical, you know? :p

Under such POV, he's just waging war. There should be some interest (i.e. looking forward to the autoproclaimed "peace" negotiations)..

Time will tell xD

Check "green blue" deployment strategy. This is done by many businesses, where an interrupted service might mean losing a sale, or a client forever... I tried it sometime witj Nginx but it was more pain than gain (for my personal use)

This is what OP looks for. It exists! Other repos only cover partially (e.g. either ollama or tts)

Craving for foods that fake your senses, sounds very much like drug abuse. As growing older I have been striving to avoid potato chips and go for fruits. Apples are sweet and crunchy. Clementine hydrates a lot. Banana provides potassium to avoid cramps, and so on. No junk food provides any of these... Yet, they entice us...
