Thank you for at least bringing the realistic approach to this conversation. It is by no means ideal, and sets us back from actually making streets safer. Anyone can purchase just about anything weapon-related in a country where political chaos and cultural divisions are a dime a dozen is really a cocktail for disaster. Of course people are going to lean on the argument that if the bad guys have the weapons than good guys shouldn’t be banned from having their own, because the number of untraceable weapons is already past critical mass.

That’s why places like Lemmy and Mastodon are nice, even if big corpo buys up some instances, there’s still the option to just start free ones elsewhere.

The instructions say ALLOW_EMPTY_PASSWORDS=yes. They also say this is meant for development purposes only, I assume they mean you should build a dockerfile for something more pressing like a prod environment.

More public funding, less corporate interference in our government’s processes. We might actually find that Congress and state legislators listen to their constituents instead of conflicting corporate interests.

This is such an awesome question! I never gave it much thought but the things we focus on, or that to which we give attention, has some amount of value in our minds. By giving it value, we increase its importance. While it may be an inanimate or abstract object or concept that has received our focus, by increasing its importance it could have lasting effects on the future relevance of that particular object or concept.

I can’t tell you the number of times I have in fact edited files using vim even with a WM and DE. I just treat my laptop like it’s a server I connect directly to now

Oh, or even better how many times I used the terminal in VSC to vim edit something 😂

Notice that those addicts also have a severely degraded quality of life. Your comfort zone is not something always meant to bend or break, if your body is not happy you should be considering why the alarms are sounding. Cirrhosis and COPD are not fun lifelong conditions.

This already happened but it wasn’t the automotive company that took it down, if you look at the page now it’s an advertisement for some “AI-driven” advertising thing

It’s impressive how much “public” transit they have in place for getting people into and out of the park (almost as if spending some money on public transit pays massive dividends). Even then, they still have to put people’s cars somewhere.

Disney World in Florida goes to greater lengths obscuring and spreading out how much parking fills up the park. It’s design is also a lot less confined by urban boundaries than Disneyland.

I just hope there’s some cute women out there that really like my hairy wrists (and total obliviousness) too

Yeah, I’ve been waiting for Cloudflare to finally support .dev but it might be too late before Squarespace transfers sites. I might have to temporarily use porkbun
