Just to let you know. Most of the blocked instances you see for programming.dev (since your account is here) aren't forums you would normally interact with but are various ones on the microblog side that cause issues (for hate speech, spam bots that have seo spam posted in various threads, cp, etc.). For forums running lemmy and piefed the amount is very low.

Also going to be adding some ssh keys to my steam deck and phone so if this happens again I can at least connect remotely that way next time. Usually do it with password auth on my personal servers so forgot to copy the key for this server

Remember to Report Issues (programming.dev)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Ategon@programming.dev to c/meta@programming.dev

If you ever run into issues with the instance make sure to report them to someone on the admin team so we can fix them (Ive seen some people mention some stuff I didnt know about before since it wasnt brought up). Duplicate reports about the same issue is better than no report at all so dont worry about reporting something someone else already might

Most of the team can be reached quickly through the discord and matrix channels (more of the team is on discord but theyre federated to each other)

As well since I already got this question due to the lemm.ee shutdown just wanted to also mention here we did onboard someone new to the admin team since when we asked in the post and the instance is doing fine

I fixed a slowness issue so you might see the instance get quicker but if it still bad let me know. Ive been clearing out some tasks in my backlog for other projects im doing and am planning to start doing development work on some things relevant to the instance again sometime in the summer. For things related to the community side of the instance prioritize reaching out to someone on the community team (list is on the legal site) as always since they are the team that deals with those aspects)

Hi everyone! Were currently looking to get two new members of the community team: one for programming.dev (our forum and link aggregator) and one for bytes.programming.dev (our microblog)

Tasks would include making sure the community side of the instance runs smoothly so that people can enjoy the content on it

For programming.dev that would include helping with handling reports that come in, handling applications and making sure content hosted on the instance follows the CoC. For bytes it would be the same bar applications as bytes does not have an application process. You can see the full administration guidelines on our legal site here: https://legal.programming.dev/docs/administration-guidelines/. The primary communication platform for the admins is discord but all channels are also bridged to matrix

Anyone interested feel free to reach out to one of the team members listed in the administration guidelines (apart from snowe) or comment on the mirror of this post created on the programming.dev side (you can reach out on discord, matrix, programming.dev, or bytes)

The process for getting added onto the team would include an interview and permissions being added slowly to make sure new additions understand the guidelines and how they should be handling reports

we also host an instance of opengist at https://blocks.programming.dev/ as an alternative to those if wanted

Useful to not need to tab back to it after changing one thing in the inspector

61

Useful for things you don't edit but still would need to scroll past

73

Capitalized will also put a space when swapping between letter and nums

Will be reindexing all of the tables I havent reindexed yet just in case some of them also got corrupted

Seems like some peoples profiles are also affected by the issue although its much rarer

15

Doing another round of maintenance to fix some issues related to posts

It might only be down for a bit within that window but im giving myself two hours in case some things take longer than I expect

Will be attempting to fix some issues. If theyre still there after this maintenance I'll be doing another round tomorrow or on the weekend around the same time slot since there's less activity then

44

Export range (used to create a box in the inspector for choosing a number within a range) can have extra things added to it in any additional arguments after the main 3.

One of these is the addition of a suffix that can be set to whatever you want

45

Then you can easily move to bookmarks using the go to button at the top or using ctrl+b and ctrl+shift+b

43

If you also just have a large block of text it lets you see a large amount of the text instead of only a small part at a time

That icon is the fediverse icon, not the lemmy.world icon (lemmy.world one looks like a globe)

It shows the original version of that post (the top one links to lemmy.world since thats where that user is from, center one links to mander, and bottom one links to gehirneimer.de)

The post you made here has the icon for me that ends up linking to the version of the post on blahaj

might be some federation issues, ill see if I can look into it

looked into it: not due to versioning and out of the realm of what I can fix, I passed it along so should hopefully be fixed soon

It hasnt been released yet, still working towards parity (but getting there soon)

The first instance using it will likely be sublinks.art and some other instances will be switching over from lemmy when it hits parity like programming.dev and literature.cafe

[-] Ategon@programming.dev 20 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Yeah both lemmy.world and us have the same alternate frontends at the same subdomains (apart from voyager in which they went for m for mobile and we did v for voyager)

Links for all four of them

[-] Ategon@programming.dev 20 points 2 years ago

Update: Ada is back and banned them, im refederating

[-] Ategon@programming.dev 23 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Im going to temporarily defederate for now until they get the spam bot problem under control but once the admin comes online and gets everything sorted im refererating

Yeah with that though its extremely vague what they mean by growth. Technically having the possibility of console ports in godot is some form of godot engine growth and would attract people to the engine who might be still using something like unity due to the capability to export to switch, etc.

The second paragraph is

The funds will be used to expand W4 Games’ core team and accelerate the development of a suite of products and services for the Godot ecosystem, enabling all developers to create and publish games and applications on all major platforms. The company will present its product roadmap at GDC 2023.

One of the things about this community is theres no dedicated mods yet (both snowe and I are admins) so it hasnt been getting as much moderation on its posts unless the posts get reported

If someone wants to mod it let me know

I definitely think it should be more general topics and the people collecting could be handled by random which I can adapt to fit that (since it isnt being used in its current form) + language specific things in the language channels
