I have a Windows 10 machine running Mullvad 2024.4 which connects fine and is working as expected from a VPN perspective.

I was hoping to keep a mapped drive alive to a network share, which from the screenshot included appears to be something that is supported, however when I connect to the VPN with Local Network Sharing enabled, I loose my connection to the mapped drive.

Has anyone successfully managed a VPN connection which doesnt sever any existing mapped drives, using Local Network Sharing, without split DNS?

Thanks

Like the title suggests, I've created a script that lets you install Mullvad Browser with just a script. It is open source under the license of GNU AGPLv3.

You may access to it at: https://github.com/spookyorange/mullvad-browser-linux-install (GitHub/Spookyorange/mullvad-browser-linux-install)

Good day!

So there are a few instances when I want communication between devices in my network, and a VPN is a hindrance to that.

On my phone, running the android app, its really easy as I can go into "Split Tunneling" and set an exemption for an app I want (in this case LocalSend).

However on my desktop, its another matter (I'm running the Linux version 2024.4 if it matters, but this problem has been here ever since I started using the service years ago).

First there's no obvious way to set a permanent exemption for an app (as I can in android). If you go into "Split Tunneling", I am only given the prompt to launch the app...which does get cumbersome. To navigate into Mullvad's settings, find Split Tunneling, and launch the app from there.

Second and more annoyingly, the split tunneling doesn't work in Desktop. My devices can't see each other unless if I disconnect from the VPN.

There has to be a better way to do this; and frustratingly on android there is.

I'm in a country that's weird about VPN. I managed to establish a connection using Bridge Mode in the OpenVPN settings, but for some reason I can't connect to Tailscale with that setting on. I get a warning with a long-ish error message along the lines of "The last login error was fetch control key...failed to resolve controlplane.tailscale.com and no DNS fallback candidates remain." Any ideas what's going on here and/or if there is a workaround?

Can anyone offer me any advice as to what I need to do.

I have just created a Mullvad account and installed the software, but when I try to connect it just says that it can’t connect because of a possible VMware conflict.

I am so frustrated with trying to figure out what to do, I’m about to go out and pick a fight with an angry silverback gorilla and kick it right in the balls. This seems the far easier option than trying to deal with this mind fuck!

If I use firefox but exclude it from the VPN tunnel through split tunneling, do websites still know that I'm using Mullvad? I ask this as apparently DNS isn't excluded from the VPN tunnel when using split tunneling, only IP addresses are

I'm trying to exclude these two games from the tunnel split since the VPN makes the ping triple (but I need it to call on discord). However just adding the game, riot client and vanguard doesn't seem to make the trick since it either gets stuck on loading screen or says there's no internet connection for the client.

So I'd like to know what I should have excluded and what not

I followed this post but the connection is grey'ed out on the Chromebook I am using.

Any reason for this? This Chromebook belongs to Los Angeles Public Library and is managed by them. I need to access sites that Chrome Guard that is installed on here blocks.

I have the Chromebook until the end of the year (2024) so I could save the money to get another one for myself.

The alternative of course is to connect via my phone. The problem there is that it's a Lifeline phone and data is limited (6 GB) and expensive ($30 to add 8 GB).

I mainly use the Wifi at the library as my main high speed connection.

Thanks

PS - I could if I find a good deal get my own Chromebook however making that money back is a challenge.

Hi, I tried with Surfshark VPN and I had connection problems, I had to disable one or the other, I wanted to know if with Mullavad they can work together

I use multiple accounts on various sites as part of my operational security (opsec) practices. To make this process more convenient, I use SessionBox, which allows me to manage multiple profiles without having to log in and out repeatedly. However, some forums have protections in place that can detect when two accounts are being used from the same IP address, potentially linking them together.

This is where SessionBox comes in handy, as it enables the use of different proxies for different accounts, preventing such detection. My question is: Is there a way to obtain proxies from specific countries through Mullvad's VPS and use these country-specific proxies for my different accounts? I understand that in order to use a proxy, my Mullvad VPN needs to be connected, which I'm fine with.
