Surely they will never stop trying, and the challenge will get certain people really worked up to be creative in how to do it.

Remember iOS used to have a huge community on hacking the phone. The interest slowed down after Apple sort of implemented the features people used that for. iOS is certainly more secure nowadays, but there’s no shortage of vulnerabilities being constantly discovered, and with vibe coding apparently being integrated even large companies, I suspect more and more dumb vulnerabilities will be looming just waiting to be exploited.

I think what’s more relevant question here is what about the ecosystem? The language itself can be good, but can you create some category of software in it that is better/easier than alternatives? I suppose it would take a long time for it to have a framework as complete or well documented like Python’s Django or PHP’s Laravel etc.

When blogs or people in forums promote some less used language they often focus on some specific good thing and leave out the inconveniences and the big picture, so these are questions I’d ask before adopting a different programming language.

Trying yourself first seems like the best approach. There are people who recommend you not to Google the answer until you have tried all the options and looked at the official documentation as an “exercise” of problem-solving without being fed the answer, cause you won’t always have it.

I’m in a situation like that. I currently work for a huge bank which requires a lot of custom configurations and using their own framework for a lot of stuff. So, most of the problems people have cannot be searched online as they’re company specific. I see new workers there struggle a lot because they don’t try to understand what’s wrong and just want a fed copy paste solution to make the problem go away.

Yeah but sometimes you want something that has mutable state over time, and it’s easier to pack it into a self-contained thing.

As a programmer myself, collaborating on projects can often be more complex than simply "adding features." It's not uncommon to encounter challenges such as mismatched preferences in technologies, differing architectural choices, or even divergent design aesthetics that can dampen interest. Besides that, the original creator may not even appreciate the proposed changes and could reject them.

That’s correct. I wonder if YouTube still uses Python to this day.

Not saying there isn’t a difference in language performance, but for most world problems the architecture and algorithms matter more than the language for performance. Unless you’re in a very constrained environment such as lower end smartphones or embedded systems.
