I am merely rebutting your point about how more stuff can make things perform faster. Multi-tasking comes to mind. In a simple program, a task may be run in a procedural manner without interruption. Say for example, network access. The network stack must wait for the reply to arrive, but since the program is simple, it really is waiting for it doing nothing, wasting time that can be used to perform other computations. So the code will get bigger, but the performance is increased by reducing time wasted waiting for resources. By size alone, it is more bloated, but it is increasing performance. And as I said, I haven't looked at AOSP source code so my comment is not directed towards that point as I have no knowledge about low level android stuff.
What I am saying is that the current soldered CPU approach on laptop space is not that different from switching an ARM SoC on a daughter board. The only difference is that you cannot change RAM. Maybe that too will change as you said with CAMM standard. Next is that some SBC already supported PCIe for external M.2 storage, so you can theoretically hook up a removable GPU there.
Now, what to do with the old SoC daughter board? The same as with the old framework motherboard. You can repurpose it as another computer.
The point is, framework repairability comes not only from part swapping, but also the promise of providing schematic for board level repair. They can totally make ARM based laptops with SoC repairable if they wanted to. But I suspect they will not (at least in the near future) since there is a lot to do for them.
I don't mind paintball since there is a kind of paintball which MUST be thrown NEAR a suspect with unremovable paint. What I am worrying about is non-human aiming it. Now don't get me wrong, computer aim can be very good (see: any military defense weapon) but I doubt the startup isn't cutting corners somewhere.
Edit to add: Maybe a system of confirmation before shooting would also be helpful. Like, when intrusion is detected, the device should confirm whether to shoot or not. But I don't know how it will work at sleep time.

They probably need it to have more targeted patches compared to the steam deck that are not going to fly for Arch Linux ARM which aims to support a wide range of hardware.
