probably not, I haven't seen any other post mortems but the tanstack ones were only up for 20 minutes so really low chance. I wouldn't be surprised if they were all a similar approach and that's why they all happened at the same time

there are profiles in yakuake that can include theme if you didn't know about them. not automatic assignment to each tab but if you have a fixed set of tasks you want a tab for it'd work

this overloads a handful of names, like the "client side routing" really confused me for a second there, I kept trying to fit in actual csr until I realized what it had done. not sure if they've just heard the terms before out of context or if it's llm slop.

for reference, I've commonly seen this as backend for frontend (bff) in architecture discussions

yeah but like, his other comments are purely inflammatory, there's even a "you can't hold me accountable, I was quoting the bible!" line

sorry, entirely unrelated to the original post, just bothered me that this guy was being discussed in a positive light lol

things like oauth, binary websockets, loads of headers, etc all are way worse in curl than others. postman is terrible but there are plenty of other gui/cli options

I love clj. in general it takes more of a pragmatic approach to functional programming than others. you get most of the purity for way less effort. same with specs over proper static types. it just ends up being a very enjoyable and productive language

python isn't the only language to do "execute everything imported from a particular file and all top level statements get run". both node and c# (but with restrictions on where top level statements can be) can do that type of thing, I'm sure there's more.

python conventions are unique because they attempt to make their entrypoint also importable itself without side effects. almost no one needs to do that, and I imagine the convention leaked out from the few people that did since it doesn't hurt either.

for instance in node this is the equivalent, even though I've never seen someone try before:

if (path.resolve(url.fileURLToPath(import.meta.url)).includes(path.resolve(process.argv[1])))
{
  // main things
}

yeah that should just be a pip package instead, then install it any normal way

linting config itself wouldn't be defined there, and it would be verified in ci and such, but a setting to tell vscode which linter and extension it should use to show warnings would be.

modern languages may have their own way for configuration but they don't have a way to bind it to the list of vscode tasks and define how to run a debugger, which is the part that gets stored.

it's easy to go overboard with extension suggestions, but I don't think adding an extension for linter used, extension for formatter used, and any languages used if there's a definitive extension.

My team is split between visual studio, vscode, and I use emacs. we have config for both vs and vscode in our repos since it makes working on a new project so much nicer and means we aren't just sharing editor configs through side channels instead. it doesn't do anything to me if I have editor config for an IDE I don't use in the repo, but it makes it easier for someone new to jump in with a sort of same environment immediately

This is utah though, a state mostly controlled by mormons. The mormon families I know take all their kids' electronics before they are to go to bed, and don't give them back until the morning, some incl 18yo in high school. Monitoring everything they look at to make sure they don't see anything that could make them question their beliefs is common

This is just them pushing the strict control all the hyper religious families in utah already exercise onto everyone else, like all the other silly laws in utah

I've found nixos is perfect for me since I like how precisely I can configure it.

Oddly enough, I've had a decent chunk of my only barely technical friend group switch to it for the opposite reason. They all just copypaste snippets of config between each other, and if something breaks they just go back a revision. I doubt any of them spend much time configuring anything. It really is the perfect idiot proof distro and I don't normally see people talking about that side of it

yes, it doesn't run plasma when it's in big picture, it runs it in https://github.com/ValveSoftware/gamescope along with other tweaks, so it's lower overhead and game windows tend to behave better

it also handles updates to os as well as to steam so you don't ever end up with an update that breaks steam, they're always in sync
