systemd timers are definitely nicer than cron for this (and basically all cron jobs). there's both a restart on failure with backoff if you want it to handle the retry, or a way to schedule it based on the last exit time so the script can manage the backoff like you are doing now

on the last part, page numbers are hard to trust. I assume you don't have a choice, but that's why I prefer next page tokens when designing an api instead of numbered pages. then you know the data you're getting is exactly after the previous data

I don't understand how these are fundamentally different from the phone cameras that everyone points at everyone else already. holding a phone up isn't exactly conspicuous at this point.

schools should probably ban them for the case above, but schools should probably ban phones as well. in the US at least there's so expectation of privacy anywhere public and smart glasses are a tiny fraction of the doorbell cameras, security cameras, etc that are everywhere

it feels like we're approaching a circlejerk level of being against smart glasses in general, which do have a ton of interesting use cases that aren't recording related (but still require a camera for position tracking etc). the "pervert glasses" position is intentionally obtuse

yeah but you still basically end up duplicating the internal structure of the react component but in a css file then.

there's nothing definitive that makes one of those 3 options better, it's all preference. any of them fit better than global css though

just to be clear since you said both again in different sentences, GUID and UUID are two names for the same thing.

I think that spec predates uuid4, it only mentions the time based/node based variants. 122 bits of auth token should be plenty, right?

the sheer unlikeliness of guessing that large a number, the original post is fake or something else is going on.

ones that can run cli tools do great, they just use npm

for some people it's nice to start from nothing and build up config, I'd recommend doom for anyone else. it's nice to be given a file with all the settings you can change instead of having to do it all yourself.

4 to 5 added like 2 tags, but was fully backwards compatibile. the painful upgrade you're thinking of was 3 to 4 where they basically rewrote, it but don't have any tutorial content other than one of the main devs making an absurdly long series of walkthrough videos so it's impossible to find the topic you're interested in

try opening that cdn link you sent in a browser. it'll open a directory listing for the package. you can see some examples of what urls to use on the main jsdelivr page.

I imagine the url you want is probably something like https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/lemmy-js-client@0.20.0-image-api-rework.8/dist/index.js (note the extra path on the end and also a specific pinned version instead of latest so new versions don't break things)

I've always just refilled with low temp washer fluid if I'm running low and it's getting close to winter. otherwise the other one does better with bugs and such in the other seasons. never had a problem with anything freezing, but I may go through it faster than others or smth

I just set up grocy for this, no smart fridge needed. I have a barcode scanner, then scan everything I buy, and again when I use it

Voron doesn't sell anything, you either have to source all the materials yourself or buy a kit. I bought a kit from formbot when I built my V0 and have been pretty happy with it. They also sell V2.4 kits and have a warehouse in Czech
