Can I ask what kind of setup you have there? In terms of software etc..

I hear you, but I'm pretty happy with how this is working out, the advantage here is that it blocks ads and trackers for the whole network so it works on my wife's devices without her having to do anything (which she wouldn't anyway)

I know it's not exactly what you're asking but when faced with the same scenario my wife insisted on getting a dyson stick vacuum and even though I wanted a robot I have to say the dyson turned out to be a great choice, it's compact and convenient enough that it gets used daily and if you want to spot clean something it's a sinch, I haven't used a robovac so I can't really compare it but it's hard to imagine that it would perform as well, its worth mentioning that the motor is fairly powerful, it's easy to clean after each use and it stacks away nicely in the cupboard

I looked a little closer at the battery connectors and when pulling the battery out I must have yanked the little wires out of the clip just ever so slightly (I could see a little bit of them reflecting on one side) I carefully pushed them back in and avast! There is life again! Thank you kind stranger!

I haven't seen any notable issues yet, a lot of people use a wireless pi zero to do the same thing so as long as you aren't running a state of the art gaming rig (which i'm not) I think it'll be fine

So here's the thing, every time I try to move away from Facebook messenger I run into the same problem, nobody else in my friends or family actually want to use a secure, private messenger app like signal or telegram, my wife, my parents, my in-laws, my friends they're ALL on Facebook and they will never take signal seriously enough to actually use it, it really bums me out that there are these far superior options but without anyone else using them they're pointless..

Anyway what apps do you use to stay in touch with people?

what is r/place? (self.outoftheloop)

There's been a lot of controversy lately surrounding the protest actions over on r/place but having never been there myself I don't understand what the purpose of the subreddit was originally, or why protesting users chose that specific subreddit to utilize, a breif explanation would be much appreciated ✌️

I don't have a switch but my friend does and although she loves the Pokémon tcg she's never played a Pokémon video game so I'm looking at getting her a Pokémon game to play, any advice appreciated

wtf is nostr? (self.nostupidquestions)

So no question I've been enjoying lemmy, I love the freedom it offers and I love the seemingly simple and elegant framework it runs on however after having ditched Reddit for the hopes of a similar or improved content experience I have to say it is quite a bit smaller and therefore barren at times which is both a good and bad thing depending on your needs

And then of course there's kbin and masterdon which from my understanding is a little more geared towards the twitter-like micro blogging

But this morning somehow I stumbled across nostr which I have never heard of but I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with it? There's a Web app like voyager at iris.to that makes browsing pretty simple..

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So how’s it going?

I didn't know what the they where but somebody gave me some and I just peeled it, cut it up and steamed it, but you could totally throw this into all sorts of casseroles, soups, roasts or hangi it's really nice! Not too strong of a flavour kind of like a potato with a celery-like tinge, 10/10 will have more often 😂

Update: apparently they turn to mush if you roast them
