Pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered outside Rome City Hall in Rome on Thursday, urging municipal authorities to end the city’s institutional cooperation with Israel, Anadolu reports.

Despite high temperatures, protesters assembled in Campidoglio Square carrying Palestinian flags and banners while seeking to make their voices heard by members of the City Council meeting inside the municipal building. They also chanted pro-Palestinian slogans and protested Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

Maya Issa, president of Palestinian Students in Italy, said demonstrators had once again gathered outside City Hall to call on Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri and the municipal administration to terminate all existing agreements with Israel.

Issa said more than 16,000 Rome residents had signed a petition in recent months calling for the municipality to end its cooperation with Israel, adding that the initiative reflected the will of the city’s residents. She said the proposal had already been approved by more than seven district councils and urged the mayor to take a clear position by allowing it to be debated, even if it were ultimately rejected.

Referring to a UN report on Gaza, Issa said the municipality should respond to the latest findings by taking steps to isolate Israel.

The Israeli resident of Scottsdale was identified as Guy Galanti, 48, who was charged with conspiring to steal a trade secret on September 10, 2025. Authorities arrested Galanti on September 11, and he has been in custody since, the Justice Department noted.

He worked as a senior-level manager for Scottsdale-based Green Technology Investments (GTI).

The company services semiconductor testing machines and sells remanufactured machines with new GTI-designed functionalities added, the Justice Department said.

His co-conspirator "sought to recreate GTI's new design as he operated a Taiwanese company that directly competed with GTI," it added.

Death toll soars: At least 920 people are dead and over 3,000 have been injured after this week’s devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, according to the country’s top lawmaker. Rescuers are racing to reach survivors beneath the rubble before the “golden” window of time closes. Many displaced families have nowhere to go in Caracas, La Guaira and surrounding areas.

Mounting frustration: Venezuela was already mired in political and financial crisis. Some residents are calling for civilian volunteers to help clear debris, saying the emergency response is insufficient. Doctors say chronic underfunding left the healthcare system unequipped to treat the surge of patients.

Donald Trump on Friday blamed Iran for carrying out a drone strike on a cargo ship in the strait of Hormuz, calling it a “foolish violation” of the ceasefire agreement with the US.

One drone damaged the upper deck of the ship but the ship was able to proceed, the US president said. The US shot down three other drones aimed at the ship, he said.

His post on social media did not identify the ship or the time of the strike, but on Thursday the British military said a vessel was hit by a projectile off the coast of Oman.

The US and Iran are still negotiating terms of the interim peace deal, including issues such as getting ships through the key strait and addressing the future of Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium. Under the interim deal, the two sides have 60 days to work out the details.

Lol no no, they had just posted to both the .ml linux comm and !linux@programming.dev

I crosspost content from .ml as part of boycott/protest efforts:

Why am I cross-posting .ml content?

I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to help vitilize non-.ml comms and make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don't want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some active niche comms.

Megathread on the issue

Some highlights from the link:

.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558 The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068

"If you don't support Russia then you just don't understand geopolitics" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415

"Don't worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/30580167

"See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn't count!!" ~ Davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/30673342

"NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/31595035

General negative sentiment to other instances who haven't "seen the way" yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can't even put them all here because this comment would be really long.

I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda

On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like "Lemmy? Isn't that the place with a bunch of tankies?" Or "Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left". The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

!linux@programming.dev is the primary one I contribute too as well as primary for my .ml crossposting

But, where possible, I have identified secondary comms to crosspost to. The sh.itjust.works one is the next largest off-world off-ml linux comm that isn't programming.dev

I don't really check for active mods, if it becomes an issue for a comm I usually just request to be made a mod at some point

I've never been able to quote and get spoiler to work fully, I think the 2 are just incompatible with each other, best I get is this partial working one where closed it's quoted and when you open it it goes outside the quote

Yes, but you also sent it to a .ml comm, soo it came here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Haha yea, definitely not for taking stances against them, and they definitely don't have established precedent for banning people who question them or the authoritarian regimes. Oh wait:

You: >They are banned from many instances

Me: >No I'm not, just the authoritarian instance of .ml

You: >Ah ha so you admit your banned rabble rabble rabble

Resorted to bad faith arguments in 1 reply LMAO

Yes I'm banned from .ml, that's what tends to happen when you stand against authoritarians; bans, censorship, jail etc.

[–] cm0002@toast.ooo 6 points 5 months ago (7 children)

Ig you guys have just resorted to pure lying LMAO

None of my accounts have been widely banned and I haven't made a new account in a long time, just cycling through the same ones on smaller instances lol

[–] cm0002@toast.ooo 20 points 5 months ago

I just crosspost the post from 1 .ml comm to 1 relevant non-.ml comm maintaining the crosspost as best I can so that it collapses (for people with supporting clients at least)

Not really fitting the common definition of "spam", Users like Chobeat are probably closer to an actual spammer since when they post to the technology -.ml comm I can't crosspost it anywhere because they literally sent it to just about every "technology" comm on the Threadiverse LMAO

but even then I wouldnt consider it actual spam

I'm also not evading bans, my accounts are not banned anywhere to the best of my knowledge (well except for .ml, but that's a given lol) and I just rotate through them over and over again. I haven't made a new one in a long time.

In fact, I've recently added a listing of accounts used for this crossposting purpose to the bottom of my megathread here if you wish to block them and I'm updating the bios on each account as I use them to include a similar blurb for people

Thanks! I'll keep doing what I can! 🫡
