The restrictions on commercial use means it does not meet the non-discrimination part of the open source definition.

This blog post from the OSI explains it well: https://blog.opensource.org/metas-llama-2-license-is-not-open-source/

Llama 2 is not open source. tech companies need to stop abusing the term.

Not surprising as many Muslim-majority countries also support China on the Uyghur genocide. As always in international relations, money and politics are what truly matter. Countries only care about human rights when it benefits them.

A temporary blackout isn’t enough. We need indefinite blackouts in all participating subs. Hopefully we’ll see a mass exodus if that happens.

I think Zuck’s argument that Meta and Apple are competing at different levels and use cases only makes sense when comparing the Meta Quest to the Vision Pro. Once Apple releases a cheaper mass market Vision (and they will release one eventually), all of his comparisons will become moot. A cheaper Apple Vision will be better than any of the Quest headsets.
