~~They have sometimes acted as mediators during conflicts and may have slightly influenced border resolutions in their favor as they establish peace agreements.~~

Edit: I'm better satisfied with this answer - Diarcesia has always been a religious pluralistic nation. That isn't to say that religious conflicts didn't happen. Some diereses are more religiously homogenous than others. Adherents of minority religions, depending on the historical period, become sources of tension or bridges that dissipate them. Border-wise, their influence is greater in smaller diereses (sanctuaries during conflict) or in rearranging established regional/international borders especially in the 19th century.

Context: Diarcesia is a fictional nation project started on 2016 in the NationStates website with this premise — starting with a Greco-Roman cultural concept and deferring details until you need it/are sufficiently inspired, how far can you go?

Ten years later, as shown in this map, I still have quite a bit to go, but I have also gone far since I began. A lot of what I've canonized wouldn't have been possible if I decided to flesh concepts out at the beginning.

Lastly, ask me anything! I'm particularly interested if you're able to spot the inspirations or references in the map!

Another entry in the same universe: the Nankrai Archipelago

Co-op Credits

Andrenade - Neraserria (land of the Nerra)

Delmonte - Dionysia (island leased to Delmonte)

Mine's the Eastern Roman Empire during the time of Justinian. The mixture of Greekness and Romanness of its society at the time is in a sweet spot according to my preferences.

In production: 2022-

The GT Prestige Six Seven is the halo performance variant of the 2017-current generation of the PB Crux, the automaker's staple full-size/F-segment car. Substituting the standard 2.6 V8 with a turbocharged V10 engine, the variant aims its sights on other supercars and is a nod to the V16-equipped PB Six Seven of the late 1960s. Like this historic model, the Crux GT Prestige Six Seven's natural habitat is the speed-unrestricted motorways of Diarcesia.

You are invited to join in one of the government-sponsored parties. You know that from time to time, they invite certain entities of note for networking opportunities

The noise, the lighting, and the smell of the sumptuous food delight your senses. They are generous and lavish, but not excessively so. There's a single exception to that: the tapestries along the main hall's walls. No expense was spared to imbibe every last detail on them. It was like the pride and legacy of your nation was on the line.

Near the center are lines of tables. Some of the guests were already with their meals with the occasional break for chitchat. On a further area of the hall, you can see pairs and pairs of people engrossed in their dances. You turn once again to the tapestries...

"Oh hello, sir, you seem interested on our tapestries. Indulge yourself, for these tell the story of our enduring monarchy," the servant said.

You nod, then walk closer to the first one you want to further scrutinize.

That has to be intentional, isn't it? It's the one closest to the dinner tables. Before you depicts a melee from a more brutal age, but the backdrop... is an older version of this very room.

It's murder on the dancefloor

You walk along this long tapestry. As your eyes follow the characters wielding their blades in deadly duel, you also hear, at the same time, dinnerware clashing. Forks clang against knives. Spoons fall to the floor with a large ring. And at the exact moment you focus on scene of dying man tumbling to a vase, you hear a plate from the tables behind you break.

But you better not kill the groove, hey-hey, hey-hey

But you continued along the way. More scenes of violence and blood, made more realistic with the cutlery hitting one another.

It's murder on the dancefloor

You begin to notice a pattern in the historical depiction. The ones in blue began to dwindle as their opponents in red mimic the poses of the 'blues'.

But you better not steal the moves

You walk some more. As if on cue, the less 'blues' you see standing, the sounds of the utensils become quieter and quieter, until it was completely gone.

You reach the end, the victorious 'reds', representing this glorious nation, raise their blades. Then you look behind, the guests who were eating stood, their dinner knives also raised in a similar fashion. You know this ritual: the host(s) of the party has called for the main round of entertainment. The main dances of the party are about to begin.

DJ, gonna burn this goddamn house right down.
