We have been getting some things from a package free store as well. We have been using Evergreen Collective and have been to Tare Market. Both are great and totally worth checking out

I recently watched this wonderful video by Matt Baume that he released 3 months ago about the last time republicans wanted to defund PBS and NPR. The stated reasons and rational always change but its just hatred of non-commercial media

They are local and we're more supportive. Not everyone did but a lot did at once. I don't shop at Walmart and I doubt they will listen. Target is headquartered here and lots of local people work there. Easier to get attention

I have a random NPC generator tables I made. I have a 1d8 for gender (1 is androgynous female and 8 is androgynous Male, the rest are male and female). I tend to have certain races more androgynous and gender bending than others. I also have height, clothes, hair, eyes and body. Similar tables with some personality traits.

For race I have a 1d100 table for my major regions. The 1d100 let's me get small percentages of rarer species and allows me to create groups. So for the current area 70% are from the region with 60% being the top three races and the remaining 10% being atypical. The remaining 30% are broken down by nearby regions and foreigners. This lets me customize each section and roll on subsections of the table if I have to.

I always race, mostly roll gender and everything else is optional. The gender, appearance, and personality tables are universal and I have made few race tables for the campaign. They are useful tools to have created and to use

Same. Costco is always packed and not as convenient to get to and way less fun to shop at.

We have been trying to do smaller, local and independent places as well but you still need the basics from somewhere

Same. My wife had a large discussion at her work about what stores they are moving to. So its happening without an organized effort. But I won't shop there in Feburary.

Just recently though. They used to be support of equity, inclusion and queer rights before it became super popular. I think I read they supported TC Pride for 15 years before this year. So they are exactly Walmart on the Rainbow Washing bandwagon.

I am planning on using Costco as my Target replacement. We will have to go a few more stores now but should be worth it.

I agree. I am disappointed since they were suppose to be Amazon replacement. But time to stop buying from them. A progressive boycott will cost a lot more than a conservative one.

There are a lot of good suggestions here and great food suggestions. Hotdogs, Italian beef sandwiches and deep dish are totally good ones. I would also suggest some fried chicken. Fried chicken is a total southern American food but thanks to the Great Migration the cuisine is common in Chicago. Anywhere with good reviews online that isn't in the rich white areas of the city will do.

I get why its difficult to understand at both because the systems in place force a scarcity mindset where everything is "either or" and its never "both". Once you start thinking in an abundance mindset and see that the restrictions are artificial a whole world of differences appear. Once the veil is lifted for aspect everything comes clearer. You can see this in why the Patriarchy fights all of the movements because they know to they are the same behind the scenes. Its obvious once you start studying the history of feminism, queer rights and civil rights that the same people had similar ideas and were inspired by similar ideas and methods. But it takes some time to look through what you are told is a "natural system". So natural that it needs constant propaganda to support it

Same with eggs. All his fault!!!

My wife just had her first pregnancy doctor's appointment and I am feeling under prepared. I am looking for worthwhile and hopefully empirically based books about pregnancy and parenting. I normally have no problems doing my own research and scourging the library to find out what I need but there's so much it's overwhelming.

So what books have you all read that are worthwhile? What is worth looking at?

"OutFront has worked with people from 20 states, including states like Texas and Missouri, along the Interstate 35 corridor and southeast states Florida, Tennessee and Georgia, Rohn said.

Minnesota’s relatively strong job market and economy are a draw for those seeking access to care"

Due to confounding factors, I can only say this is probably a good statement for those arriving with some savings, or had the time to find a job before the move. I have not had this level of luck myself, but this is the first city I've ever lived in where I have felt a desire to set down roots.*

"A November attack on two trans women at a light rail station in downtown Minneapolis, with cheers from onlookers, deterred a few people Charley spoke with who had been considering a move to Minnesota. He said it was hard on many members of the Twin Cities Transplant group.

“To me, (bystanders cheering) was the most devastating part,” Charley said.

A place to call home

Housing is a considerable obstacle for many transplants — the housing crisis in the Twin Cities affects everybody, but the absence of a dedicated LGBTQ+ shelter is a risk for anyone relocating without guaranteed access to housing, Charley said.

“And you can’t sleep in your car,” Charley said. “I talked to a transplant last year who was talking about doing anything to get out of Texas and mentioned in February living in a car.”

Charley said the “Catch-22” of finding a job without a local address is another challenge because employers might eliminate out-of-state applicants. To secure an apartment, one needs a job and proof of income, he said."

I don't know for sure if I am the actual person this interviewee said they had spoken to, but I may be since every description fits, and am willing to share and answer and questions you may have down in the comments.

To start off with what was mentioned in the article:

  • There actually are dedicated services for unhoused younger transpeople (the oldest age that is included by any of the groups is 25).

  • I have been living in my vehicle at various areas around the MN metro since bailing on Texas becoming a decent place July 4th weekend 2023 (more detail im the comments)

  • I have had 0 interactions with anyone here that made me feel LESS safe due to my identity or presentation. And after learning some terrifying lessons on some things to not do, I haven't had any interactions at all overnight with the exception of 1 police check up every 1-2 months for the last year...(notes and qualifying stuff in comments)

If you are wondering If Minneapolis, or Minnesota overall, is worth the move, then I would say yes to anyone with a well laid plan and a small savings for comfort.

And you're saftey is at risk because you live in the worst areas, I can say 1.5 years of car life in MN has without a doubt been way better for my mental, physical, and spiritual help than 1.5 years back in texas under even a million dollar roof(frankly because I'd be hanging from it one way or another long before the year mark)

Things to check out this weekend and Monday in celebration of Indigenous People's Day

In case anyone in St. Paul wants to do something about the Rethinking I-94 project. If you aren't familiar with the Twin Cities Boulevard its a proposal to convert a portion of I-94 into a street level boulevard through the Twin Cities.

Interesting fact checks against claims made during the VP Debate

I didn't know there was on-going effort to create a continuous parks along the Mississippi. Access to water should be shared with all
