I din't see any benefit over our existing decentralized options. Neat idea though.

what is your opinion on mastodon and other fediverse microblogging sites?? as opposed to forum-type websites in c/fediverse@lemmy.world

Forums are for narrower topics or subject, while the world is your oyster when it comes to microblogging. I'd feel limited on a forum site, whereas here I can follow everything from gaming to dog posts.
