My first holiday season after going no contact with my parents. I spent time with my wife and her family and many cousins who love me! It felt safe and warm to be surrounded by people who actually like me— really feel like I made the right choice this year!

Mount Eerie’s album, A Crow Looked at Me, is crushing. Phil Elverum’s wife died shortly after their first child was born. It’s a raw grief album. I listen to this when I need a good cry. https://youtu.be/-1UyUsz0A-A?si=3JY1CLXZIxxKxDl6

Frightened Rabbit’s “Modern Leper” also hits me in the chest.

Well, I crippled your heart a hundred times

And still can't work out why

You see, I've got this disease

I can't shake and I'm just rattling through life

I’ve been spending a lot of time watching horrific video out of Gaza and just crying. The sheer weight of the suffering is staggering.

It feels surreal that i’m meant to log in to my job and click click click for 8 hours…

i’m dogsitting! it’s nice to be there for these two little guys who had been rescued from a neglect situation. it is sad to see how much human contact means to them, but rewarding to keep showing up and building trust.

I have an outsized autoimmune reaction. They swell up very quickly into huge hard lumps and are prone to infection… My doctor was a little chagrined to tell me that it’s called “skeeter syndrome” which is a silly name.

My city has had a lot of unseasonable rain which has led to a ridiculous boom in mosquitos. I’m allergic to mosquitos. I have pulled a few all nighters because i’m so anxious… last night i killed one while in bed and it’s sort of ruined the idea of sleeping…

My rule is anything I use almost every day is worth splurging on. I will also splurge on specialized tools, like nail clippers.

For example, I got an expensive trash can for the kitchen and it’s just a nice object that adds a subtle bit of niceness to the day. The lid drops at the perfect speed, and the bag never slips off the opening.

Let’s keep in mind that TV subtitles were true garbage back then. I have ADHD and often miss dialogue. I remember resigning myself to not using them as there was a huge time delay and the white text on black boxes covered 10% of our 480p screens.

New, creative ideas from cultural exchange and understanding is a result from affirmative action. This is a benefit to all. Not to mention the work of anti-slavery and anti-racism is necessary ethically for a country built on slavery and racism.

This is a great Siralim write up. I got sucked in because my favorite game from childhood was Dragon Warrior Monsters and I’ve been chasing that high ever since. The structure is 1000% DWM if you’re looking for a retro gaming experience with monster raising.

wow! I’m glad you mentioned Symphony of War! It is such a great game— I found the squad formations super satisfying.
