Yea WiFi is definitely great for certain things, but not everything. My wife has friends over at the house from time to time, and some of them ask why I'd rather run a cable from the router to my computer instead of just using WiFi. It's easy enough to explain, but because they are not all that technical, it's hard for them to understand, I guess....

Let's hope it never has to come to that....
I personally like ethernet because it's so reliable & I've never had any problems. In my house WiFi can be so unreliable, whereas ethernet has been nothing but awesome....
There are some slim battery operated cooling stands listed on Amazon. Not sure how well they'd work, but they are always an option....
I gave bspwn
a try a while back, but never stuck with it. Recently been thinking about giving it another try. Any advice you could give to someone who's primarily been using XFCE
for the most part....
The operating system in use shouldn't be a factor. Consider opening your laptop to perform a thorough cleaning, and also consider replacing the thermal paste as well. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, taking it to a repair shop is a viable option. Investing in a cooling stand for the laptop would also be beneficial....
Thanks for the tip, will have to look into using it....
Most recently I updated nvidia drivers on Arch & failed to read the output printed to the terminal. Next time I turned on the computer I was left with the dreaded blinking cursor due to a driver issue. My graphics card had just switched from the main nvidia driver to 470xx & I had failed to notice. Installing the correct driver fixed the problem & I was once again able to boot. Previously way back in like 2002'ish I got a second monitor for my setup & tried manually configuring it. Had a number of unsuccessful boots, before I finally got it working....
Yes sorry, that is what I meant.. I actually don't have high hopes, but I'm willing to give it a try. Worst case I'll just leave my main computer on overnight....
I tried upscayl already, but couldn't get it to run. Never heard of box86/64
, will have to check them out. I may actually try compiling it. But if all fails I guess I'll just have to leave my main computer running overnight....
I've not used neofetch in quite some time, but I'm sure my own is indeed faster....
Haha, when I first moved into the house I'm living in now, my wife was never done tripping over my cable. I'd yet to mount it to the wall at that point....
