I am quite new here, I didn't have reddit, I come from fb. I choose Lemmy because it is not own by a fucking schizophrenic billionarie (I mean shittenberg, I don't know who owns reddit, but it is USA and, not to offend anyone, but I am very fed of USA in general) and this for me is enough. I think the issue with our data is mainly what companies do with it (of course the privacy principle itself too matters), and the issue with centralization is that here I am free to say to an admin or a mod to go fuck himself, if I ever feel doing so. And change my instance. This is something unimaginable in the classic socials. You pointed out a list of reasons but actually didn't elaborate any of them, and I am curious. Please elaborate.

Not huge, indeed. It is possible, and desirable, that the EU is playing strategy with them. Maybe they hit softly now, just to show they mean to go on this regulation-path they choose, and to give a "warning". Maybe they considered a too aggressive fine could make things worse. I'm not sure, just thinking.

Honesty and straightforwardness are no more part of the journalistic typical speech. They are mostly busy to be presentable, even when their job suffers from this.

Il silenzio delle istituzioni parla molto chiaro: il governo Meloni accetterebbe volentieri le politiche involuzonarie di Trump. L'unico motivo per cui non l'hanno ancora fatto (almeno non apertamente) è che, accipicchia, siamo in uno stato che ancora, seppur alla strema, difende i diritti umani. In altre parole: se la Meloni non sentisse su di sé lo sguardo dell'intera Europa, noi italiani già saremmo alle prese con misure come le deportazioni e la chiusura ufficiale di fondi ad agenzie di stampo liberale. Non ci credete? Neanche i cittadini europei nel 1911 avrebbero mai creduto che una guerra mondiale fosse alle porte, avrebbero riso se gliel'aveste detto. La cosa è assolutamente preoccupante.

Io ho comprato Threema due settimane fa (costa 5 euro raga...) e sono riuscito ad usarla con un ragazzo Ceco, ci siamo messaggiati un po, con tanto di foto, audio e video, e persobalmente devo dire che è assolutamente ottima. Semplicemente ottima. Non un bug, velocissima, personalizzabile. Mi permette addirittura di cercare singole parole all'interno di tutte le conversazioni presenti. Non capisco perche dici che non è al livello di Wp. Io penso che sia ad un livello piu alto invece...

Sono abbastanza sicuro di aver letto da qualche parte che Meta si riserverà in ogni caso il diritto di usare i post fatti da persone che hanno rifiutato il progetto AI nel momento in cui questi post verranno condivisi da altre persone. In pratica, nel momento in cui qualcuno condivide il tuo post, questo smette di essere "tuo", e il tuo rifuto non vale più. Io ho cancellato il mio profilo facebook quando ho letto la notizia.
