I use both Keychron and Durgod and I'm very happy with both (I wouldn't call my Durgod colorful since that's not my taste, but maybe they have options that would be your style)

If you're willing to go into the terminal based editor rabbit hole, I recommend going straight to helix, coming from vim/neovim in the past it's much easier to get into and maintain since it's batteries included and doesn't take huge dotfiles to configure it like you want, and the movement feels more intuitive to me than vim's

When did I advocate for them? I'm just pointing that out because it's not that accurate from my actual experience, there are plenty of much more valid reasons that you can point out to show that they are not native to the land, like the fact that they have to commit a genocide so they can settle in it for example

Piefed was also detected, and also I'm not sure what your point is. Personally I'm sticking with the original software and the instance I'm on knowing that there's no such ideological firewall with fake 404 errors so I don't find out. People who agree with the Piefed and Tesseract dev's worldviews can go there and enjoy their bubble if that's their thing

Let them shoot themselves on the foot, they are only providing more evidence that their ideology is the one that needs to control the narrative or else it shatters at the first sign of critical thought

ProtonDB alternatives (lemmy.ml)
 

Since ProtonDB is proprietary and also directly linked with Steam games instead of any game possible, I was looking around for open source alternatives to it. I found Are we anti cheat yet which is pretty cool but it's limited just to the anti cheat working or not, and also PC Gaming wiki which is for all games but no longer for Linux compatibility in specific, so the answers are also much more vague.

Is there anything I haven't discovered? It seems like there's no good alternative to it currently, not even one that just lacks user input.

How does one optimize for better system temperatures on Linux while doing heavy tasks (e.g. gaming) during summer heat.

Are there tools for creating 'gaming/balanced/economy' profiles for example that limit the GPU and CPU depending on the requirements?

Should I find a way to customize fan speeds?

I am trying to find everything I should do from the software perspective before I move on to buying better cooling hardware.

I am currently reaching 100+ celsius temps maximum on both the GPU and CPU while gaming, on idle it's like this:

I want to create a choice driven game where you will mostly just be picking dialogue options, and I want it to be able to export to Web, Android and PC. There should also be a lot of freedom in the visual design.

What tool/engine do you recommend? I don't care about the languages, I'm open to learning anything.

I'd personally lean towards Godot because I wanted to try it out regardless of this project.

It is now also configurable, lets you automatically revert the files after cleanup, and caches namespaces for performance improvement.

Should I go for GrapheneOS, e/os or LIneageOS on a new phone? (see description) (lemmy.ml)

My current phone is starting to annoy me after 7 years of usage (Xiaomi Note 8 Pro) and I'm thinking of finally getting a new one. With that in mind, I'm considering setting up a De-Googled OS as well, but there are a few things that I cannot compromise on:

  • Google Maps (I need the live traffic data when in a hurry, otherwise CoMaps is very nice)
  • Banking Apps (I've checked them in the GrapheneOS list and they do seem to work)
  • Instagram (it sucks I know, but I like not being a hermit)
  • Company Portal & Teams (absolute garbage, but I need it for work)

If any one of these aren't guaranteed to work, then it's not an option for me right now.

If they do work, which De-Googled OS should I go for? GrapheneOS does seem like the most private one and maybe the most likely to remain worked on and supported for a long time, but it means that I'm going to have to buy a Pixel, probably a refurbished one.

Lastly, if I install another OS and regret it, is it possible to install the stock OS again?

Edit: Also, what happens after Google's "Unverified App" decision has passed, will this affect these alternative OS?

I didn't receive any information about it but when creating a support ticket I was told my account has been flagged and I had to do some extra verification. I've created a support ticket now and will keep you posted. I'll believe it's nothing major though, I use 2FA everywhere, the last commit on all repos is what I expect, and all sessions and usages look fine

Absolutely fuck Github and Microslop, they can just vanish your projects without notice whenever they want with barely any justification for it, and then take their sweet time to fix it too.
