I'm kind of ok with that.

I usually have a little milk around the house for cooking sauces and things. Something like soy or almond milk don't make good substitutes. I can't remember the last time I just drank a glass of milk.

I'm in PEI Canada. I'm getting eggs from a small local farm for $5 a dozen. I could probably get them cheaper but I like supporting the farm and the eggs are probably fresh enough to hatch.

You can download all the old Netscapes here - http://home.mcom.com/archives/

I found Mosaic 1 here - https://winworldpc.com/product/ncsa-mosaic/1

Going from Netscape 1 to Netscape 2 which supported animated gifs. What a day that was!

I didn’t go to the US when he was president the first time, and I had already decided I wasn’t going there back in November when the dumbasses re-elected him.

We were the same. At the time I lived 15 minutes from the border and it wasn't unusual for us to pop down for a day trip or shopping to get the few things hard to find in Canada. That all stopped after he got elected the first time. The little town on the US side of the border suffered from it. There was a large grocery store just on the US side that had been there for 20 or more years. It closed about 6 months after. People stopped coming.

I had to go to the US for work a couple times, but we looked elsewhere for our day trips and fun outings.

This time around I've since opened a candy store and arcade. I had brought a bunch of US products into the candy store. That's all getting sold off and I'm replacing it with candy from Europe and Japan. Trying to find interesting stuff from South America because I don't usually see that. I think that will be fun to sell.

We aren't as close to the border now, but we did have a few plans to go down for business related events. All those plans have been canceled.

Mosaic was awesome. Netscape 1 was pretty cool, but Netscape 2 and animated gifs... zowie! That was a day to remember.

I'm in Canada.

Since Bush W, I saw the blatant writing on the wall of the direction the US was going. Trump version 1 seemed like a clown show and I assumed things would get worse but it would take 20-30 more years. I never once thought we'd see a Trump version 2.

I think this is probably the end of the USA as we once knew it. Trump is on a speedrun to crash everything. The American people are either cheering it on or apathetic. The public won't stop him. The opposition in US government seems unable to deal with Trump because he clearly doesn't give a shit about decorum, rules, or law.

I guess we all realize empires eventually fall. The US got itself here from it's own hubris. It's time.

I do worry being right next door and both the US and Russia eyeballing our northern routes and resources. More and more I'm coming to terms with probably dying defending my country from a direct attack. Something I never really worried about until last November.

It's a scary time

I don't think the old rules will apply much longer. Trump is playing a game the normal US government have never had to deal with. By the time everyone gets up to speed, Trump will have purged anyone that could have done something.

I think the USA is lost at this point. Damaged beyond repair unless the anti-coup happens soon.

Hi hello. Just got my Lemmy account today. A refugee from Reddit. I had been a reddit user for over 11 years. Apparently I pissed off an admin saying something. I'm not sure exactly what because the comment was deleted and they banned me. I assume the comment was related to Canada and Trump nonsense. Whatever.

This is actually great timing because I didn't want to use a social media company in the US given the state they are in now and the direction they're heading.

Being a left leaning Canadian, getting banned from reddit was probably just a matter of time anyway.
