Setting up certs for inward facing services (lemmy.ml)
 

Hey all,

Hope this is the right place to be asking (Reddit refugee), but do any of you setup certs for inward facing services? For example, I run "Whoogle" on my proxmox server, which I then access from several other devices when performing searches.

The connection between my machines and that proxmox VM are not encrypted, however only my VLAN (for personal devices) is able to access it.

Is it good practice to create a certificate for those types of servers that can only be accessed within your own network, or overkill?

Pretty great honestly. I've found almost all the "subs" I'm interested in, and the community has been very nice. There's a few small things I'd like to see (UI improvements, 2FA (coming next patch), etc), but those will come in time :)

Employer stopped matching 401k (lemmy.ml)
 

So, times are tough in the tech world and my company decided that in addition to no bonuses/ stocks for the foreseeable future, they also want to stop matching our 401k contributions.

They say this is temporary, but it's already been 6 months. I'm in my early 30s, so I still have quite some time before retiring. These small differences now will compound in the long run, and I'm starting to think I should look for a new job.

Does my view of these small missed contributions actually being a big deal make sense, or is it something I should wait out?
