Are you suggesting they be banned outright from all? Here you have to weigh the freedom of citizens against the need to protect them from harm. It’s easier to argue that underage children are unable to choose for themselves, but what would be the basis for limiting the freedom of adults?

Consoles are super easy. I bought my Xbox Series X a little over five years ago. All of my saves from all of my games from Xbox 360 and Xbox One just work. I sit on the couch, pick the controller, turn it on and start to play. My kids know how to use it. If they want to play a game in my library, they just install it and start to play.

Bazzite (and I guess SteamOS) makes things easier, but you still need to set everything up yourself. Games sometimes don’t work. Sometimes launching a game takes you to a separate launcher that doesn’t work with the controller. Cloud saves for games are unreliable. You must always be on your toes for when you suddenly need a keyboard and a mouse. On a console you do absolutely everything with a controller from your couch.

These are from 2024 (which means your box likely has none of these in 2026), and “the attacker has to trick a user into printing from a malicious printer server on their local network that suddenly appears on their machine” which is quite unlikely for a regular home pc. The attacker would require access to your network which would likely mean they’re inside your house so you have other problems besides privilege escalation.

Do you have a source for how often it happens or is this conjecture? I guess this would most often happen through supply chain attacks or physical access, the first not being all that common in my understanding and the latter not being a typical threat model for a home computer. But if you have a source explaining what actually happens, I would love to read it.

Is the device set as your home Xbox? Do you see the game in your Games & Apps -> full library -> owned games?

My compact camera from more than 20 years ago took/takes pictures that are a lot better than the midrange cameras I’ve tried recently. The resolution in megapixels is higher in newer phone cameras, but that is not the same thing as quality. I really do not agree with midrange phones being leaps ahead. With good lighting they might be on a similar level.

The Drime iOS app does not let you upload anything else than photos from your camera roll. The macOS app demands to control my Mac through accessibility features before I can even log in (which I’m not going to allow when there is no reason to do so) so I have no idea how or if the app works. So at least for my use case Drime is not really an option for now.

Global production chains are weird. Woody and Toby are made in China from wood composite that is made in Finland. But yes, looks like the product itself is indeed put together in China.

I have no experience of actual HdHomerun devices, but I tried emulating HDHomerun with tvheadend and antennas when I was setting up. I didn’t get that to work with Plex, so I’m not sure that would work with jellyfin either. It wouldn’t make sense to buy new equipment since Plex works fine with what I already own (and I generally avoid buying USA products)
