A Riemannian manifold isn't necessarily non-Euclidean, it's just a smooth manifold with a Riemannian metric, which is just sort of a way of defining local geometry in a coherent way. Namely it's a smooth family of inner products on the tangent spaces at each point, where an inner product on the tangent space is sort of a way of comparing any two directions at a point and the smoothly varying part means that for sufficiently close points, the comparison function on their respective tangent spaces is similar.

Anyway, like "manifold" is a formalism intended to capture the idea of a "shape or space," a "Riemannian manifold" is just "a shape or space we can do geometry on."

A bit of friction when going off the beaten path is generally a good thing. Some people always take this too far though

cats just do that sometimes

It's got a very high barrier to entry. You kinda have to suffer through it for a while before you get it. And then you unlock a totally different kind of suffering.

You pretty much just grab it and do whatever you want from there

Some of it looks like topology. The curvy horizontal lines turning into curvy vertical lines are symbols relating to the Kauffman bracket, which belongs to knot theory.

Missing from that summary is the fact that he's a confirmed moron.

They already jumped multiple sharks with the Weeping Angels. I mean, the Statue of Liberty. I'd rather see a Dalek story any day

Yeah. What they can't handle is anyone seriously disagreeing with them.

Suddenly paranoid that my 0 viewer per month personal site might not handle this correctly

I'm saying that Postman is bad. maybe not in terms of functionality, but damn if it doesn't run like a slug on my work computer, which is just fine handling a dozen Visual Studio and Rider instances. It seems like it works perfectly for about 5 minutes and then goes to crap.

So yeah, I'd be interested in an alternative too. I only really use it for basic functionality (creating, sharing, and running collections of requests with configurable parameters).

Put another way, given the size of Meta and its userbase, it's completely infeasible for a typical instance to moderate on their behalf, so defederating due to insufficient moderation makes sense. Just like with Beehaw and sh.itjust.works or whatever. (I take for granted that moderation will suck ass because gestures vaguely at Facebook.)

That's a good enough reason for me. I also think federating with Meta is a bad idea on principle and out of self-interest, since they will extinguish the fediverse at the first possible opportunity and federating with them gives them the chance to draw in users and later wall them off.
