No surprise there. Most social programs are very productive with good returns.

It's just much more efficient to teach and reward than let it get bad and punish. Jails, for example, are super expensive. An inmate not only produces nothing, but also costs 10s of thousands of dollars. Over here, that averaged £50k a year per inmate when the average income was close to half that.

Which is why I laugh at the recent migrant boat bs where the government is spending a similar amount of money instead of putting people through skillup programs and such.

From my perspective, Singapore is a dystopian shithole I'm glad I wasn't born to.

With that said, it's so common for immigrants to criticise the country they migrate to. And it's usually unfounded. But not always.

The only Singaporeans I knew were heavy travellers. Strong desire to study and work out of their country. Very proud of their country, however. One of them was a friendship I had to end because I couldn't handle the eccentricity and constant showing off.

If we just require companies to always mark their work as being AI work then we can quite easily just have a search engine that toggles AI results.

But government is usually 5 years behind tech at least and in the meantime companies like Google will just choose the path of optimal profit.

It's very easy to correlate a lot of things. Particularly if weak correlation is sufficient. For example, what do you think we'd get if we tried to correlate murderers with cheese consumption?

I would suggest using the word evidence very carefully. Particularly in a scientific context.

Well, like most people who haven't used .NET, I have very strong opinions about it.

The first and main issue I take with it is how it's all capitalised. Second but not less, it's such a generic name. Am I gonna get websites in the .net domain or do I have to learn Google search beyond typing random junk, pressing enter, and hoping for a stackoverflow answer that works?

I would take this with a grain of salt. None of the programming languages I have used require this level of in-depth knowledge. Certainly not modern C++.
