I like the link preview option. Unfortunately, after opening or copying the link. I need to manually click the X mark to close the link preview. Auto dismiss would make it that much usable.

Voyager has this feature where it can track the number of times you have upvoted a user's post/comment. A similar feature in summit would be neat.

TL;DR

  • Samsung has acknowledged its less-than-frequent Google Play system updates on Galaxy devices.

  • It has said that it only delivers software after testing, refuting Google’s plan to split updates into crucial and optional updates.

  • However, it has said that it will resume updates in January 2026.

Summary:

Basically, this is a hand-on view of the phone which has a 10k battery, 185hz display. A cooling fan in the camera casing. Flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite gen 5 in a body size similar to the Iphone 17 pro Max but with double the battery.

Honor claims it can do 5hrs of continuous gaming without any frame drops – the reviewer refused to verify this claim since apparently he has a life XD.

Anyway, the display has a PWM frequency of 5920hz which is super high. So eye sensitive folks may be good. Alongside 3000nits of high brightness.

The speakers are rated 2nd best according to ben, behind Poco F8 Ultra.

This is a china only launch so software is china centric with lots of bloat and launches with android 15 out of the box.

It has 3 cameras 50mp main shooter, 50mp telephoto, 12mp ultrawide.

The telephoto is good but not flagship territory. Ultrawide is ok.. It also has a 50mp selfie camera being a gaming phone and all for some reason..

Battery can be charged at 80w and supports bypass charging when gaming.

It's named Honor Win for some reason. Maybe, windows game emulation?

TL;DR

  • Google has started rolling out a new GPU driver for the Pixel 10 series with Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1.
  • The update aligns with Imagination’s August driver release and brings Android 16 and Vulkan 1.4 support.
  • While real-world performance gains remain unconfirmed, the update should reach stable builds in a future Pixel Drop

A developer has created an open source alternative to KWGT called Sukko.

It is an open source Android app for creating widgets for home and lock screens.

Here's the project website: https://sadellie.github.io/sukko/

His repo: https://github.com/sadellie/sukko

Its currently in experimental stage and will take a while until a full release.

Current stage

Experimental

  • Accessibility features are not implemented
  • Expect huge changes in functionality
  • Clean installation recommended. Data migration is not guaranteed
  • External code contributions are welcomed, but I recommend waiting for alpha stage. There are no contributing guidelines at the moment
  • Bug reports and feature requests are discouraged. I know what ku*tom is
  • Not for daily usage despite implemented features and overall stability
  • Please avoid redistribution on "free and open source android app repositories" 🟢🟦

Development updates: https://t.me/sadellie_dev

Compatibility

  • Android 12 / API 31 and higher
  • vivo - no, lol
  • Pixel and close to AOSP ROMs
  • Anything else - visit https://dontkillmyapp.com/ and follow instructions. If that didn't help - open an issue or buy Pixel

TL;DR

  • Google has kicked off a new Extended Repair Program for the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL.
  • The program covers a limited number of Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL devices with vertical lines on the display or a screen flickering problem.
  • Google is offering free display replacements for these phones for up to three years from the original retail purchase date.

After all that outcry. They only wrote about devs demanding longer. Conveniently ignoring fdroid's post among others.

Even for hobby projects you would be required to create a limited developer account and submit government identification if you want to distribute apps to a larger audience.

Ridiculous, mother of bullshit! Switching to Linux appears to be the only option left for a personal computing device.

Who asked? If they cared about users they would install F-droid not Epic store.

TL;DR

  • YouTube is increasing subscription prices outside the US, affecting both individual and family plans.

  • The price hike differs per region, with some seeing changes between 30% to 50%.

  • If you're impacted, it makes YouTube Premium more expensive than Spotify Premium and Apple Music.

According to the below two articles. It's 1-5 meters in optimal conditions. And some of it may require additional hardware for tracking.

That was almost a decade ago or even before. I remember adockers recommending white listing search engines or recommending to disable non-instrusive ads to support websites.

For all the sustainability push and saving the planet green talk. They like other manufacturers were quick to remove the charger from the box.

But, now nothing. Replace or throw the Pixel watch in the bin if broken.

[-] limerod@reddthat.com 50 points 2 years ago

It's high time Custom ROMs and users alike did this. I cannot run a custom ROM on my primary device due to play integrity shenanigans some apps may have.

[-] limerod@reddthat.com 49 points 2 years ago

What good are 5-7 years of updates? If you don't let us repair our phones when we need. Assuming, everything else is fine.

[-] limerod@reddthat.com 46 points 3 years ago

I disagree. If google hadn't opened up, manufacturers wouldn't have bothered. We also have great UIs like oneui with useful quality of life features not found in stock android. Not to mention a longer update cycle than even Google the developer of android.
