There were so many ridiculous things happening around this - aside from the fact that this was such a huge discussion in the first place.
The funniest one was the guy at one of those stupidity conglomerate "safe Timmy" protests, that was eating a fish burger. And when a reporter asked him if he is aware that the whale only got caught up in fish nets because of people like him, he wasn't even able to understand the connection.
I though the joke is that he made up a personality to pick her up
