Facial recognition software =X= cameras. Cameras are fine; software recording and tracking faces and uploading that biometric data to god knows where is wayyyyy different.

Also, MSG is different from a “privately owned buildings” like a house. This is a venue that’s open to/for the public.

As OP said, this shit should be illegal.

I mean, Adele tore up the scene during the 2000s-2010s and she wasn’t no fashion model. I’m sorry, but this isn’t a good argument. I could name many, many female artists who don’t fit that mold.

I agree she got where she is in no small part due to her family’s wealth. But her staying power is because—to many myself included—she’s a decent songwriter. You can hate her music, perfectly valid, but I disagree with calling her music “mediocre” as though it’s some objective fact.

Like, I fucking hate the Beatles, not my taste, but Paul McCartney and John Lennon were undeniably talented.

It sucks, but sometimes the rich and famous do have some talents that many enjoy. I think she’s one to a certain extent.

That last statement is not true—at least not in the US. Pro-LGBTQ sentiment is declining, but there’s still significantly more support than opposition.

I hate AI as much as any reasonable human, and I know this article raises valid huge concerns… BUT! Looking at the state of humanity and all the fucked up shit that’s going on, I can totally see why an AI looks at all this and says “yeah nope burn it all down. With fire. Restart from level 1.”

Nice non sequitur you got there.

Big Ag using up all our freshwater is indeed a major issue but has nothing to do with a video rightly pointing out the many, many downsides of lawns.

Also, excessive lawn maintenance absolutely does impact water supplies in arid regions, so tf is your point?

Lol just admit you got it wrong, why argue? You said peacocks are endangered, and they’re not. Just say oops and move on.

[–] mienshao@lemmy.world 12 points 5 months ago

See comment above — not endangered

The common peacock, also called Indian peafowl (Pavo cristatus), seen in the pic above, is not endangered. Least concern in fact.

The Green peafowl (pavo muticus) is endangered, but I highly doubt the Florida man had/ate that species. Much harder to acquire—I’ve never even seen it at a zoo.

In the 2024 Japanese general election, LDP had to form a coalition with Komeito, and it still lost their parliamentary majority in the lower house for the first time in 15 years, with the LDP suffering its second-worst result in its history, securing only 191 seats.

Less than a year and a half later, LDP went from a minority coalition party, dropped Komieto, and won an outright two-thirds supermajority and regaining its majority status in the chamber. The LDP's total of at least 316 seats is the most ever won by a party in Japanese electoral history.

I do NOT like Takaichi. But she undeniably turned LDP around in a historic way. LDP was majorly suffering in 2024, and nobody could’ve foreseen this much of a comeback.
