As a (begrudging) customer this sounds good on paper. But I'm suspicious as hell

I guess on some level there's something wholesome about it being a gardening game. I wonder how much of the success is owed to the natural human inclination towards farming

And changing minds is difficult, and by all accounts requires kindness and understanding rather than blame and dehumanizing.

I get frustrated with how most outspoken people on the left seem to take the easy answer of "they're evil!" when talking about people who disagree with them

These are "smart" channels that are mostly for entertainment but still teach you at least something:

  • Stuff Made Here - fun engineering challenge videos
  • Veritasium- math and physics explanations
  • Mark Rober - kid friendly engineering challenges
  • Technology Connections - everyday object explanations
  • Steve Mould - science explanation of random concepts
  • Outdoor Boys - outdoor survival
  • Woodsbound Outdoors - outdoor survival
  • Fireship - shorter, technology explanations
  • Internet Shaquille - food and cooking explanations
  • ElectroBOOM - comedic electrical engineering
  • Company Man - light analysis of failed or successful companies
  • Atrioc - comedic current events, marketing explanations

The outdoor survival ones are new to me, but for some reason I'm really into them.

I'm sorry but that's still the meaning of the term. I know it is colloquially understood to mean a "poor" country, but we shouldn't ignore the original intent.

Also, please don't tell me how my country is. I quite literally live here. I can read every article online that you can, plus I can go outside and see it for myself. We know we have problems, we aren't ignorant to them - at least not all of us - and they're nowhere near as bad as some commentors on this post believe they are.

I have concerns about the success of this platform. I am convinced what makes TikTok great isn't necessarily the algorithm (its good, no doubt) but the volume of content. There are so many users producing content that the amount of content you find enjoyable is always more than you could scroll through in a day.

A platform like this will be boring pretty fast when you scroll through the 100 new videos uploaded that day in an single hour, and you skip many of them. It's tough to generate enough content without enough users, and most of the content will likely just be aggregated from the other short-form sites. Of course that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's a more privacy-friendly way to browse that content, which is a plus.

Also, not particularly a fan of more brain-rotting short form content. It's crazy how addictive it is and I'm wanting less, not more. But if I had to choose a "shorts" platform I'd sure like a federated, free one to be the one to succeed. But it's got a long way to go

No it's quite welcoming as long as you don't overstay your welcome

He is the Drake from 2000's Nickelodeon as long as you mean the show Degrassi

A change was made in 16.1.0 to allow users to reset their password through a secondary email address. The vulnerability is a result of a bug in the email verification process. The bug has been fixed with this patch, and as mentioned above, we have implemented a number of preventive security measures to protect customers.

Struggling to figure out what the heck they did. Some kind of injection attack to send the email to an arbitrary account? How would you even mess that up in the first place

Sorry, forgot to specify in the post. But I'm looking for a desktop replacement. We thankfully don't use Windows Server anywhere at the moment.

I think the biggest crime of the show is choosing to use established characters like Galadrial, Elrond, etc. We know these characters and know how they turn out - stakes are very low for the viewer. The plots literally don't matter. I got bored and we stopped watching about halfway through. We didn't hate it, we just stopped caring.

The one plot that has all original characters was my favorite, but

::: Spoiler It ends up being about one of the established characters in the end too. :::

It is just more of Hollywood being cowards and not having the guts to write stories of their own. Tolkien built such a vast world with well-defined lore and rules and they choose to do almost nothing with that. They choose to play the safe route and use marketable names.
