I believe that this way, though traumatic, may be better because you have the right to send the bitch to hell, so to speak. That bullshit of "I love you like a friend" is designed to make of you the asshole if you don't take it graciously. When you're more experienced you tend to don't give a flying fuck, but to a young man it can be so destructive...
